    Rating: 5 / 5

Razor: Wester Bros. 6/8” 33 Fraternity
Brush: Jayaruh 410 with Omega #48 Boar
Lather: Ginger's Garden Obsession Type (1508.5 Project)
    Aftershave: Obsession A/S Balm
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original
    Obsession EdT

My first shave with a traditional straight in about a week. This one did not disappoint. An easy three passes took care of the one day growth. I will be working down this soap with the 1508.5 Project. My projection is about 35 shaves to go. Therefore, the arrival of the Edmund Fitzgerald should be about the third week in October. Gordon Lightfoot will be playing in the den.

Hope you all have a great day gentlemen.

Hello and I hope everyone is in fine fettle this Thursday.
My shave today was nothing less than amazing, if I may say so myself.
The "pencil-shaving" Art of Shaving Oud made a terrific lather. I took a finger-full

and smeared it all over my beard area and then, with a well-soaked brush, I went to work.
It's messier than using the bowl, but the results were well worth it.
Second day with the Feather Hi-Stainless and, as expected, the blade was extra smooth 'n sharp.
    No issues---just great results.
Frag juice is a YSL creation from 2011:

This is very close to the original YSL M7 from 2002.

The opening salvo of citrus separates it from its big brother.
    Luckily, this juice is still
    available. Worth a look.

A rather interesting shave today, with that Simpsons puck. I guess you could call it a combination of the way I normally shave with pucks, advice by some members here, and that on the product itself. Anyway, first pass was "my way"-about 20 seconds to load the Jayaruh followed by good solid swipes with it(the brush). Not too much soap went from brush to skin, though. I recall when using the Razorock Aqua "Shaving Cream Soap", I just did it the regular way, but this is just shaving "Cream". Back then though I wasn't loading for much time(20-30 seconds). Working with the Simpsons felt a little awkward for the first pass, so for the second, I just "finger loaded" the soap on...dime-sized dots here and there, re-moistened the brush, and went to work again.Certainly a new way of shaving for me. But at the end, nice soft face&neck! No Knicks/Cuts. Mennen Skin-Bracer for the A.S. and Passion /Men for the fragrance to close out. Don't know what I'll do tomorrow-maybe go back to shaving as I normally do with pucks-course "normally"presumes I'm dealing with straight-up shaving SOAP. Super Duper Excellent(which is a nice grade for just "fooling around"...oops, sorry, @Trigger, "experimenting". :)

Good afternoon guys! It was a late morning shave for me.

Danny's brush is a great performer. It produced a rich, luxurious, skick and creamy lather. I really hydrated the soap more than I normally would and Stirling comes through once again. It really likes plenty if water. Two passes without touchups was the prescription for a BBS shave without blood loss or irritation. Performed my usual postshave ritual and I am clean and refreshed.
Tip of the day: If your soap does not easily rinse off the razor, then it needs more water for an easier glide of the razor. Have a great day!

SOTD THURSDAY MORNING, AUGUST 19, 2021

Fabulous shave this morning. Paul and Cathy, our company for the rest of the week, arrived yesterday afternoon from Buffalo, NY. Gromit was excited to see his old friends, Paul and Cathy. The wives immediately began canoodling, but Paul, a retired master cabinetmaker and I retired to my workroom.

Paul’s a fascinating man. After he retired, he took up spoon carving, and is amazingly talented. We have a number of his hardwood ladles, spatulas and serving spoons. He was very interested in the story of my “Edgar Allan Poe” stubtail initially, but the best part of our conversation revolved around honing and good whiskey!

Back to my shave! The Witte Copperhead delivered its usual three pass mug masterpiece, and the 1905 Gillette Old Type loaded with the infinitesimally wider Kai blade delivered a comparable two pass ATG noggin shave. There’s really nothing like a great MWF shave to set the stage for a great day! Paul, Cathy and I are scheduled to hit a local museum while my dear SWMBO works.

RAZOR: Witte Copperhead (Mug), Gillette Old Type (Dome)
    BLADE: Kai DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
    BRUSH: MrEE Monster Tuxedo Synth
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Royall Lyme AS/Cologne.

Great lather courtesy of the Tabac.

The Hawk delivered another great smooth shave with very little feedback from the alum.

A little witch hazel and a few squirts of the Cremo and this shave was in the bag.

    Happy Thursday everyone!
