Well, Jim and Clint jumped ship, and they went over to SoS. That's ironic. Dave decided to take a sabbatical starting today. Charlie is ministering to his lovely Kathy which is awesome because of their stressful year. Joseph is mourning the loss of his mom. Jim from Texas and Andrew from Colorado have not been heard from in over a year. The same with Tim the English teacher from Northern California. Rick from Texas (Ryx) has not been here in close to 2 yrs. Blair is busy with his car shows on the road. Evan has been busy and has not been around. Patrick, your Canadian brother, grew his beard and his hair for his gf so he is not doing shaves. Really, I can't blame him and besides, trimming a beard doesn't make for an interesting post. Aren't you glad you asked?
fair enough.Jim and Clint were always on SoS as well, but they're still around. not heard from Chris for a while,or Jason.hope all is going well for them all.cheers my friend..
Chris stopped by not too long ago. Yes, I neglected to mention Jason. I think he mentioned that he was going to be quite busy for awhile.
Thursday Aug 19 Been in the market for a Edge Forward Shaving Device at 7/8”. Looked at quite a few including a custom and figured this would do. That should hold me for a while. Thiers Issard 188 Oakwing G Wholly Kaw La Fougere Parfait soap & AS splash Badger brush My vendor has been working on compound hollow bevels. I had him hone this one up in that fashion. He always gets them sharpened quite good, this is better. Tool is 7/8 shoulderless, hook nose thumbnotch, jimped shank top and bottom, engraved spine, with maple scales. Great shave.
You mean we concentrate on one thing for an entire week, or use the same shave arsenal for the week?(Y'know, I suppose one and one is the same thing, right?)
Aug 20 SOTD Good morning one and all! Shavette Shave # 295 Dovo Shavette Personna Hairshaper (5) Mr.EE Cashmere Brush Proraso Green SS and AS Maggard's Alum Block Dickinson's WH Whiskers: 23 hrs Headshave: Same lineup with the exception of Müehle R102 with a Gillette 7 o'clock Permasharp DE blade. These items are not pictured. Suffice it to say that Proraso is a fine soap. It gives me everything I need as far as slickness and lathering ease. Face shave was near BBS with 2 passes and minor touchups. The Müehle R102 gave me a cueball smooth headshave. There wasn't any blood or irritation on this above-the-shoulder shave. Did get some feedback on the nape and neck from the alum block. Applied the witch hazel and the Proraso Green aftershave to end this session. You all have a great day!
Adjustable August MWF~~Rubberset 400/3~~1947 Gillette Super-Speed/Feather (3)~~Montale Aoud Cuir d'Arabie This is a stretch, but one does tighten down the mechanism to close the barn doors and secure the blade--- through a series of manual ADJUSTMENTS. Works for me. "If Friday's the day---The Fat is the way." (Obscure, and later edited out, line from a forgotten opera) Boar brings out the best in me---and, the best in MWF. Over-loaded the brush and went right to the face. While I can and do create beautiful MWF lather in a bowl, this soap was made to face-lather. 3rd and...maybe...final shave with the Feather blade. Today's shave was quite fine, but I would rather toss a blade with some edge remaining, than find out, middle of the shave, that the blade has bit the dust. Cleaned up the face and chose this very unusual juice: I am getting a woody-leather vibe, still projecting strong, 4 hours after application. Finally, I apologize for the hazy photos. My cell phone camera lenses were smudged.
