Thanks, Joe! Our female guest is someone I dated 60 years ago. They're leaving this morning and have been here since Wednesday! She’s buried three husbands, and poor Paul’s looking a might peaked! I’m lucky she’s a year younger and I was able to escape to college! We had a great time! We went to the Brandywine River Museum and saw three generations of Wyeth family artists, from NC through Jaimie. We watched the light show and enjoyed the horticulture at Longwood Gardens and spent part of a day picnicking at Chanticleer. Cathy’s and Paul’s health prevented them from playing pickle ball with the bride and me, but we otherwise had a great time. Hope the hurricane is not too much of a problem for you and Your sidekick, Trigger. My sister has a place right on the cliffs of north shore. She lost half her front lawn to Sandy. I’m praying for all you guys! I do know that my neighbor who’s a member of the Asplundh family has three quarters of his company’s trucks on Long Island. PECO has also sent a pile of lineman and equipment your way. I think they’re much better prepared than they were for Sandy. Good luck weathering the storm!

Lovely Merkur shave, Gary, with great accompanying photos. Enjoy your Sunday! Our friends in Long Island are in the center of that nasty Tropical Storm and former hurricane.

SOTD SUNDAY MORNING, AUGUST 22, 2021

Our guests are leaving this morning to return to western NY. We had a splendid visit starting last Wednesday with trips to the Brandywine River Museum to see three generations of Wyeth family paintings, Longwood Gardens for the fountain light show and magnificent horticulture, Chanticleer for more gardens and a great picnic, capped off last night with a visit to Milky Way Farm in Chester Springs for absolutely awesome, home-made ice cream. Cathy and I dated more than 60 yrs ago. There’s nothing better than spending time with old friends!

Cathy’s husband Paul watched last night as I restored the edge on my Dubl Duck 11/16 on the Naniwa 12k and finished on the 9 Ball Slate. He was particularly interested in my stropping regimen, particularly after I showed him the before and after shots on my USB microscope. The 40 strokes on the Constroption, 10 per side, followed by the 40 strokes on the Roo-skin bench strop amazed him. He left here with a Genco 35 I put through the same paces as my Goldedge. He had his first straight shave this morning! I think he may be hooked!

My shave this morning checked all the boxes. The JR Boar easily whipped up the two kinds of MWF lathers I enjoy for my mug and dome shaves, thinner and wetter for the mug and thicker and more yogurty for the dome. The Goldedge swept away my mug whiskers in three passes like the Sioux through Custer’s 7th Cavalry. My noggin shave featured a razor I don’t pull out too often, my Fatip Piccolo loaded with a fresh Feather DE. The OC felt great on my noggin and knocked down the dome stubble with aplomb. Osage Rub was the perfect finisher on this muggy, wet, Sunday morning, leaving your happy narrator cool, clean and oh-so-velveteen!

RAZOR: Dubl Duck 11/16 Goldedge (Mug), Fatip Piccolo (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
    BRUSH: JR Boar #374
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Osage Rub.

More for science nonsense, tried two half BIC blades in the BBS (which clamps quite well) . Worked nicely. Not much in the way of clean ups. [IMG]

    SRS # 549

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Frederick Reynolds 5/8”
Brush: Strike Gold Shave Minion 24 mm Badger
Lather: Ginger's Garden Obsession Type (1508.5 Project)
    Aftershave: Obsession A/S Balm
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original

The 1508.5 Project marches on. This is soap # 4 of 5 that I plan to “Edmund” this year. Ginger’s Garden Obession Type has a very nice scent similar to the Obession EdT however with a slight powdery vibe. The charger brush whipped up a nice lather for my three passes which has left my face comfortably smooth. I am happy to report an extreme silent alum this morning. :chores016::chores016::chores016:
It looks like Henri has decided to leave my section of LI for another day, another storm. Currently, I am sitting on the patio with the dogs. There is a slight breeze and no rain at the moment.

Hopefully we have dodge a bullet until the next time, whether it be a Nor’easter, tropical system, ice storm or blizzard. I will be ready. SWMBO is happy on two fronts, today’s storm so far has not amount to much so far and I have a generator ready for whenever the power decides to go out for an elongated period of time. :bounce015:
Hope you have a great day gentlemen.

    Cream/Soap: Arko

Aftershave: Witch Hazel, followed by Fine Snakebite followed by Nivea

    Men Sensitive Aftershave Balm.

Watching this thread last night gave me a push to try different things in my collection. I never used a blue blade in my progress before, but I ended up really enjoying it.

Sorry if my image link doesn't work, I'm posting on my pc and still trying to figure things out.
