Throwback Thursday takes the week off...I can't get a shave going that has 2 items that originated in throwback years. Doc Throwback says he'll see you next week.

    Monsieur Charles shavette
    Personna mini hair shaper blade
    Razorock 400 synthetic brush
    Soap Commander Unity shave soap
    Cremo Bourbon and Oak EdT

Excellent lather this morning. I always enjoy my Soap Commander.....good stuff.

Today's razor was PIFed to me by Jeff @ jgreenepa and it is a sweet little razor. I thought Schick injector blades would work in it but they would not lock in place. I ordered the correct Personna blades and they made it in yesterday.

I completed two quick passes with no blood loss. I really like the Personna blades. They give a nice smooth shave. The razor handles great and I just need a little more time with it. Thanks Jeff!

A little witch hazel, the juice and this one was in the bag.

    Take care everyone!

SOTD TUESDAY MORNING, AUGUST 24, 2021

My son has very few Sheffield razors. His favorite is this old well-worn Joseph Elliot. According to ‘Tweedale’s Directory of Sheffield Cutlery Mfrs. 1740-2013’, this particular razor was made prior to 1856 as the name was changed to “Joseph Elliot & Son” at that time. An American visitor to their workshops in 1868 noted “their razors are celebrated for their excellence both in England and this country [USA]” (Tweedale, p. 220). As a firm, Joseph Elliot was in business from 1795-1998.

This is one razor that my son wants back, and I understand why after shaving with it. I expect the edge was already excellent when I borrowed it, but after a run through the four sided constroption and forty strokes on the Roo-skin bench strop the three pass mug shave was awesomely sweet! Definitely one of those mug shaves I’ll find myself touching throughout the course of the day. My dome shave featured my Colonial General V2, my hands-down favorite AC safety razor. I actually prefer it to my Blackland Vector. Two ATG passes left me clean and dolphin smooth! I have no commercial relationship with Colonial Razor, a company based in Birdsboro, Pa., and the two young men who run it other than as a very happy and satisfied customer. The following blurb is this old guy’s attempt to help get their name out there.

Colonial Razor, one of the best kept secrets in wet-shaving, and a labor of love, was started by the Evans twins, Kyle and Kirk. Unfortunately for the wet-shaving world, the company, does no regular marketing, and this is a shame! Kirk and Kyle are both full-time professionals, Kirk in healthcare and Kyle in industry. Kirk has his own YT channel, and is a committed evangelical straight shaver. Kyle, while not a straight shaver is the design genius behind the General and Silversmith models. They offer AC (General) and DE (Silversmith) safety razors, and have a new model based on an evolution of the Silversmith head design coming out in aluminum that is designed to be much more price accessible than earlier offerings. Enjoy your day today, my shave brothers and sisters!

RAZOR: Joseph Eliot 5/8 (Mug), Colonial General V2 (Noggin)
    BLADE: Feather Super AC
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: Alpha Shaving T-400 Tribute with 24mm Hybrid Knot Ferrule
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Cremo Cooling Post Shave Balm.

    Ralph Lauren Safari~~Culmak 92~~Game Changer/Sharp Star~~Safari EdT (Cosmair)
Your eyes are not deceiving you. Nowhere to be seen are either an adjustable razor or a stick of Arko.
Today's soap choice rarely sees the light of day.
The Safari is a tallow-based soap and the quality is up there with Valobra.
The Culmak came out to play as well and created a luxurious lather.

Third and final day with the Sharp Star. Good shave, but it's "3 and out" with all but a few of my DE blades.
I recently found this bottle of Safari on Ebay.
Easily 75% full, spray EdT (my preference),
and...wait for it...it's from the Cosmair era.

Thank you Joe...How does it compare to MWF?..For producing a lather with my hard water it's better than Michell's. The fragrance of Haslinger soaps have very mild scents which some people shy away from but it's lather make up for this multitude.

Do you live near Ardmore? If so, you could drive to Soap Commander and buy a product yourself, with no shipping needed.

Awesome razor and shave Danny! The regular Personna hairshaper blades that I use are quite sharp. I guess the mini hairshapers are just as well.
