Real good shave this morning, closing out(until next time)the trifecta of Stoylin Glacial Sheep soap and Agua Lavenda(Puig) A.S.I didn't time the loading action, just waited until the brush looked covered enough. Another of those "You're gonna need a second pass" shaves, as I skimmed over a section of the left cheek on the first, but got it on the 2nd. Great everywhere else.Got good coverage from Doc Puig's aftershave. For this shave, I wish there was a higher grade than Outta This World Excellent, but I'll have to "settle" for that.

Razor: AJ Jordan Old Faithful Cocolobo scales
Brush: Shore Shave Player 26 mm
Lather: Barrister & Mann Reserve Fern
    Aftershave: B & M Reserve Fern
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
    Nivea Cool Balm
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original

Fantastic Fougere shave this morning. The AJ Jordan easily delivered a smooth and comfortable shave. The boar brush whipped up a nice lather. The B & M soap not only provide a nice scent but a slick surface for the blade to glide over. The post shave feel is utterly amazing. The razor delivered an exceptionally close shave with the normal three pass process. The alum report was predominantly silent. A splash of Witch Hazel , dollop of balm, Some Osage Rib and several spritzes of the aftershave and I am good to go.

Another hot day before a cool down tomorrow. The pool is beckoning. Following an X3Bar workout mid afternoon, splash!

    Stay cool gentlemen.

I really went all out to get a slick, creamy lather today by just leaving the brush drenched. Yes, I did not squeeze the excess water. Expectedly, I did get the bubbly, foamy lather, but I consider it as a preshave. I just kept adding soap to my face a few times and got a beautiful lather. 2.5 passes gave me a BBS shave without any errors. Did my usual postshave ritual that ended with the glorious juice. Have a great day guys!

SOTD FRIDAY MORNING, AUGUST 27, 2021

For whatever reason, I’ve always enjoyed shaving with shorty razors. I find them easier to maneuver, and much easier to reduce the swirling, wiry, old man, neck whiskers that challenge me every morning. Getting down to smooth skin on my neck requires all sorts of toe-down, straight razor gymnastics with a regular length bladed cutthroat razor. With a shorty, it’s much easier, particularly with this delightful, incredibly sharp, little Thistle Cut 5/8 Persian model. Glen Mercurio told me about the NY/PA fine-grained steel in this brand, also incidentally used in Genco, Case and Cattaraugus brand razors. These razors take a fabulous edge. Three passes left my mug truly glassine smooth.

The noggin shave was also acceptably smooth, although in all honesty, there wasn’t a lot of dome stubble to contend with. Yesterday’s level 6 Rex Ambassador dome shave delivered an incredibly close result. The 90 year-old, Gillette New SC is a good model, but not my favorite of the Gillette models. That would be the Gillette New LC which feels better in hand, and is just more enjoyable for me to shave with. The Rearden Razor 316L SS Tuxedo Synth did an admirable job whipping up the a great cooling Stirling Glacial Electric Sheep lather. It really felt good on both dome and mug, and allowed this old slim handled safety razor to sweep away the mimimal stubble in two ATG passes. I feel cool, clean and definitely velveteen!

RAZOR: Thistle Cut Persian 5/8 (Mug), Gillette New SC (Noggin)
    BLADE: Feather DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: Rearden Razor 316L SS Tuxedo Synth
    SOAP: Stirling Glacial Electric Sheep
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with a cooling splash of Osage Rub.
