    What?? An adjustable razor???
Yup. I will finish out the month with the Fatboy.

Started off with a setting of "1" and after two strokes, knew THAT wasn't going to work.
Adjusted the setting to "3" and that started the ball rolling.
Couple of weepers, but all-in-all, a very satisfying shave.
Off to mow the lawn and harvest a TON of tomatoes. :)

    Saturday 8-28

    • Dovo En Vogue 5/8 SS
    • TI paddle strop
    • Uh, some brush that chickened out of the photo shoot
    • Stirling magic suds & splash, Sandpiper flavor
    • Stirling collapsible bowl

I don’t remember this razor ever shaving as well as it did today. I worked on it some time back and was pointy but needed smooth. I finally charged the paste side of this paddle with 0.1 micron cBN emulsion and did a few rounds. Wiped for any residual abrasive and gently worked the rough out side. I would usually go to a smooth leather before shaving, but skipped it today. Either the change in stropping or the relaxed weekend contributed, maybe both. A nice shave like you look for always.

I think these bowls are doggie feeders designed to keep Fido from quaffing food too fast. I don’t own anything that sloshes the suds any better.

    Great day all.

Good to see Sandiper :).. In a few days I'll make a "pre-announcement announcement" on the return of the Stoylin Tony Awards next year.

Thank you Jeff. Technically, even though my last day was in June this summer is not much different than the last 41. The only difference is that I have not been getting emails from work regarding schedules and students.

The MOLC will really hit home on Wednesday when I will be in the house alone following Anthony starting school. SWMBO went back to work this past week.

We have just 3 days left in the month, and I can now project "Love Me Some Arko, Yes Yes Yes" as the winner of this month's survey. We do have a tie for last place("Smelly" and "Arko/Ice Cream)". What an exciting finish this should be!!

As promised, sticking with the Gillette 195 Adjustable---today, set at "5".

I know of no other razor that sports as many "nicknames" as the FB.
Setting "5" is exponentially more efficient (read: more blade exposure) than setting "3".
That, in and of itself, does not guarantee a "better" shave, but rather,
the cutting angle is easier to find and forgives straying.
My soap is a very old, Italian triple-milled classic, however,
I would point you to this outstanding post by our own @PLANofMAN

    Well written and informative.
(My soap is the Tipo Duro and originally came in a smaller box, weighing ~150g)

Well-shaved, I need to be good-smelling as well.

No need to go into the Creed, suffice it to say, there's a LOT
of gents spritzing this stink juice on today...and everyday.

Fine shave today, switching to Agadir/Men-Aftershave. The reason for the switch is that I wanted to get a feel for just how "cool" Agadir is in the summer, as it does say "Cooling Aftershave Tonic". Some might interpret "cool" to mean pissah, groovy, far-out, nifty, but I interpret it as "not hot, not warm, not cold". I wouldn't use this in humid weather, but it has cooled down a bit. It was just right. And the Oud Wood scent to boot. When I say "just right", I mean, it isn't "cool" like Aqua Velva, Mennen Skin-Bracer, or Osage..I wasn't expecting it to be. . I do have an issue though-somehow the "flip-top"handle broke loose. Takes some work to line up the spout with the flip-top. Anyway...enjoyable shave. One pass, as it was from canned Gillette Foamy. Had to really cup my hand when it came out of the bottle(The Agadir), to avoid a Niagra Falls-like persuasion. Missed a section at the Cactus Nation/Porcupine Alley border(jawline, right side). Will fix this tomorrow. Very Excellent.

    Good morning.

    Straight Razor Shave #298
    15/16 Wostenholm Near Wedge
    Omega Pro 49
    Stirling Spice SS and AS
    Maggard's Alum Block
    Dickinson's WH
    Whiskers: 49 hrs

    20210829_003128.jpg

I decided to use my heavy duty Wosty to attack my 2 day growth. Boy, this razor really knocked out my stubble after one pass, but went with my usual 2 passes. Easy near BBS shave without cuts or irritation. I find that this razor is deceptively sharp, but quite forgiving. It really does a super job. I have used this razor on just a one day growth, but it is overkill when I do so., therefore, I reserve this razor for my heavier stubble. Stirling Spice has a great scent and I recommend it. I hardly got any feedback from the alum so this shave was smooth and comfortable. Finished with the matching aftershave. Have a nice day.

Great shaves once again, Jeff! I used my near wedge today and it was definitely silent. I am not complaining, but I find it very difficult to cut myself with my near wedge. As fore the Jones' ShakesSharp, I did nick myself once on the top of my dome, so it is possible to cut yourself with it. However, I agree that it is very forgiving. Take care.
