I don't get this "no white after Labor Day" thing. I thought it was annoying enough to have to watch out for your office setting fragrance.....now THIS.

It is a cultural norm that it is suggested that you don't wear white or light colored clothes after Labor Day. As far as I am concerned, you can wear anything you want except Speedos.

That's what I'm doing....anything I want. Course on the Speedos persuasion of things, I pass(and I'm no QB, chuk yuk yuk)

Same here, Paul. I'm just having some fun with you. :)

As much as possible, I wear the same clothing year-round. I also don't worry about fragrances unless I'm around people getting medical treatment.

Although I didn't need to shave, I decided to have a nice late night shave. Everything went well. Two passes plus touch ups gave me a BBS result. The alum was letting me know that my lower neck was too close for comfort. Lol! Finished this shave with splashing the witch hazel and the nice matching aftershave. Take care.

Hello all. I’m a new wet shaver with many years of cartridge shaving hopefully behind me for good. I’ve been at this for a few months and have recently become fascinated with SE razors. I have a few DEs that I like just fine but there is something very compelling about SEs. They are sleeker looking and, injectors in particular, are very familiar coming from cartridges.

My first SE is a Parker Adjustable Injector V2 with which I have not had stellar shaves. I’ve actually had issues since day one. My understanding was that it came with a sharp blade loaded however mine was completely dull. No big deal but odd. I replaced it with one of the included blades and (tried) to shave. It did not go well. I set the dial to 3 thinking that was a good place to start but couldn’t find the proper angle, no matter what I tried. I managed to eventually get a poor quality shave and quit before doing any real damage to my skin.

The next shave wasn’t much better but I did notice the blade wasn’t lining up properly at the stops. One side was up so I used the key and gently tried getting it to seat properly which it refused to do. Rather than have the blade be crooked I pushed the other side up so neither were on the stops but the blade was straight. Another pretty terrible shave and was certainly disappointed.

I went looking for answers and read that others were having similar issues. One of them suggested checking the mechanism controlling blade adjustment stating that his occasional will move slightly out of position and need to be gently pushed back into place. That seems to have helped a little. The blade does now sit on both stops but it hasn’t really improved my shaves all that much. Now, about 10 shaves later, I am able to achieve a reasonable quality shave but it takes a lot of work. I still have little confidence that I’m getting the angle right. There’s so little feedback that it makes it difficult to nail it down, for me at least. I also tried new Chinese Schick blades just to see if that would help and I can’t say it has.

So, last week I saw a vintage Schick adjustable that seems to be in pristine condition which I purchased and am waiting to arrive. It should be here tomorrow and I am very much looking forward to seeing if I have better luck with it. I’ll post back here either way.

Sorry for the very long post but I wanted to lay everything out. I really want to be successful with injectors and am hoping maybe you fine folks can help. Thanks!

Welcome to the 30DC. I am Joe. I do not have any experience with the Parker injector. I do have a Schick Type G and a PAA Type L. Both deliver phenomenal shaves. Hopefully your new acquisition will provide stellar shaves for a long time.

Hi Eric, Welcome to the 30DC thread. I only have a Schick E3 injector and have never had any problems with it. I remember my first shave with it was not the best, but I did eventually get the angle. I guess coming from carts seems to make it difficult for you. I would suggest to land the razor flush with the face and keep lifting the handle as you slide the razor down on your face until you hit the sweet spot where the razor shaves you with little effort. Remember, you don't need pressure on the razor like you would with carts. Don't get discouraged it takes time. Looking forward to hearing about your progress. Take care.[/QUOTE]

On the Labor Day thing, I hear about this from other sources, thus I figure it's part of the "new normal". To me, it's as weird as beginning a sentence with the word "So". I'm glad you and I are treating this lightly :).
