6/8 Dovo Bergischer Lowe, the vintage ones. Cream was SMN lathered with a M&F Finest, and the AS was the always delightful Agua Balsamica.
Yikes! This was one of the least enjoyable shaves I’ve had in a long time. Granted it was a little more stubble than usual but that doesn’t cut it as an explanation. Definitely needs a visit to the stones - very tuggy and rough - not even close to my expectations. Too bad about the rough shave, Karl. I have been there so I do understand. I would have put that straight aside and use another one. If time allowed after the shave, then I would immediately address the edge. If not, then I would deal with it asap.

Thursday morning shave, Ralf Aust Rosewood. Splash Floris Turnbull and Asser Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
Thanks Joe! I agree with you about the Austs, however I think that the Böker I have is equal or perhaps slightly better . Do you have any Swedish razors? If that is the case, thoughts about them compared to the Germans? Off course I am “slightly” coloured by my heritage and always that especially razors from Eskilstuna is top notch Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
That's a beautiful razor, Hans. I own 2 Austs and they are great shavers. No, I don't have any Swedish straights. C V Haljestrand razors are supposed to be very good. I have a Böker King Cutter and it shaves well, but I like my Austs more so.
Heljestrands are very nice, there is a lot of other manufacturers that also have really nice straight razors like: EDV Neiström Klas Törnblom Erik Anton Berg FW Söderén JA Hellberg SSA And a lot of other not so famous or well known like Emil Karlsson, Stålvaru AB ( labelled “Horseshoe” ) Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
Unknown maker (I have help in Japan looking) orihi kamisori, cream was SMN lathered with a Keyhole 3, and Agua Balsamica finished up a superb shave.
From what I've read, that model Filarmonica is the second generation, from 1967-1979. Supposedly it is made with very good steel, if Jose MP has stamped his name on the tang. If not, it might be a gamble, and the 3rd-4th generation Fili.
Well, the tang is covered by the grommet so I don’t know what’s on it - but it was a favorite of @lindyhopper66 so I’m guessing I may have bumped the edge inadvertently or it just needs a refresh. At least that’s my working theory - I’ll find out soon enough
