Just got this 1918 Gillette Khaki Set in the mail today. It was issued to a member of the U.S. Army and has a serial code of J655. The only thing missing from this set is the mirror.
that's cool Mike.some have no letter stamp.i've only seen the "k" stamp on local canadian models.i would say 63-66 ish..
Could be as early as 61/62. That is the lower profile head with the end tabs like an American Super Speed. That change happened on the British flare tip 1pc razors either late 61 but no later than 1962.
Thank you Gary! I'm hoping to have the '46 Ranger Tech by the end of the week. For the time being the '41 and the '46 will be doing a timeshare with this case as I only have one.
The other thing to check is how the TTO knob is attached. If they are like the American Super Speeds they should have a maltese cross type security screw on the earlier ones and later ones will have a clip instead. On the US versions some people refer to them as rattle clips since if you shake the razor you can hear them rattle in the handle. If you can confirm the British razors used both you can narrow down the range further.
