I'm amazed at your post op recovery especially since you didn't use Tabac soap the morning of your surgery. :)

Really glad to hear you're doing so well, Joe. That is an answered prayer!

Sunday evening shave. I would have waited until morning, but having worked the yard today, I needed a shower before bed. First shave since Thursday Morning. Almost went for the OC version again, but grabbed the A head tonight. It was so smooth and comfortable that I decided to do a 3rd pass. Neither the alum or the Superior 70 complained about irritation. Overall one of the better shaves of recent history. Enjoy your day.

    Straight Razor Shave #303
    7/8 Henckel's Friodur
    JR #290 White Synthetic Brush
    Cella SS
    Old Spice AS
    Maggard's Alum Block
    Dickinson's WH
    Whiskers: 28 hrs

I decided to bring out the Friodur for tonights shave. She is sharp, but shaves quite smoothly. Cella is well, just Cella. Lol! The JR brush is really soft and really promotes a very nice lather. In fact, I just took some extra time to face lather because it was quite relaxing. Had a great 2.5 BBS shave without any bloopers.
Finished with the Old Spice and I smell great and refreshed. Good night.

Great Friodur shave, Joe. I don’t own any SS straights! Sounds like yours treats you right. I finally found my Filarmonica at the right price! I won’t begin to tell you how many I’ve looked over. This is the only one that Ben gave a thumbs up on. It’s coming from Japan.

SOTD MONDAY MORNING, SEPTEMBER 20, 2021

How nice to wake up to a bright and sunny morning. It really seemed like it was time to try some different software, and the PAA Coconut Bay w/ Lime seemed just the ticket, particularly with SWMBO away until Wednesday. Time to go big and smelly! Don’t get me wrong here. I adore my bride, but she suffers from a severe fragrance allergy resulting in migraines which definitely curtails any fragrance frolic on my part. In fact, my lack of sophistication in the fragrance arena resulted in a ‘nom de plume’ for me at TSD of “Nasal Barbarian”. Compared to a number of my shave brothers there, most notably, Primo, it’s well earned. But I did enjoy the scent of these products today, although the post shave skin benefits pale when compared to my usual MWF.

In any case, this morning’s mug shave featured the Puma 88 5/8. This razor, while a bit rougher than many of my other razors holds a magnificent edge. The shave was buttery smooth as this Solingen sweetie successively reduced my mug stubble in three slow, very pleasant passes leaving your happy narrator delightfully smooth. My noggin shave was every bit as good. The Barbasol Floating Head is a remarkably efficient safety razor design that dates to the early 1930s. It’s not a razor for the newbie to wet shaving, as it does require good technique and the maintenance of a consistent angle throughout the shave. Which sometimes gets a bit tricky on the back of the noggin for these old arthritic shoulders and elbows. But this morning’s two pass ATG dome shave completed without mishap. I feel fragrant, clean and velveteen.

RAZOR: Puma 88 5/8 (Mug), Barbasol FH (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: MrEE Monster Aluminum Handled Tuxedo Synth
SOAP: PAA Coconut Bay w/ Lime
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with PAA Coconut Bay w/ Lime AS Splash.

Above the Tie aluminum SE1 head.
Above the Tie aluminum Calypso handle
    Feather Professional Super blade (4)
    Fine Accoutrements Snake Bite soap
    Delrin handle synthetic brush
    Royal Copenhagen cologne

No shaves this weekend so I had a lot of growth to handle this morning.

The Fine lather was top notch and the ATT SE1 took care of business. Once you get the angle dialed in this razor is a smooth and efficient machine. Three passes with no blood loss.

    Happy Monday everyone!

Rockwell T2 4/5, Gillette Super 84 7, Treet Falcons MDC. Model T I find a bit clunky and inelegant compared to the Black Beauty but once dialed down to 4 I found it a far better performer on this day. Surprised how much more blade one gets at the 5 setting, 4 felt just right. Probably could have gotten to a BBS on my head with a second lather but elected just to do pickups with the Shake Sharp.[IMG]

Beautiful razor it is, my favorite post war Gillette. It might have been disadvantaged with a worn out or damaged blade (2 uses vs new one for the T2), might give it another shot with a different blade
