Here's a funny story for you, Charlie- I ordered a puck of Fendrihan 'Robusto' soap. I thought I was being pretty smart- it is the Fine tallow puck ingredients from the same place in the Netherlands that made the Fine pucks I love. It was described as having a "classic masculine scent with notes of tobacco and vanilla mixed with bergamot and lavender".
It arrived. Yup- a Tabac dupe. Instantly recognizable. While it isn't Tabac, I am now the not-so-pround owner of a tallow triple milled puck stinking of Tabac. Thought you'd get a kick out of that...

What is your recommendation on blades for an injector?

I humbly appear before you with my hat in hand requesting hardship waiver approval as outlined in section IX(3)(a)(iv) of the NB agreement allowing me to purchase a couple of packs of injector blades to see me through this very difficult time. In return for your goodwill, I am prepared to officially lower my requirement of you to perform only 60 consecutive shaves using Tabac in Q1 2022.

 

That's what I understand from another thread on TSD. I haven't checked the labels myself.

We've all been there, Jason. Several of my shave soaps over the years have been given away or used as hand soap for that reason. A number of recommendations turned out to be straight up duds for one reason or another. I've tried a few dozen soaps and creams in the last few years and have basically returned to a few I started with. I love how we all have different preferences and can tease each other about them.

Don't be this guy. He didn't ditch the stinky soap fast enough...

 

I will send you some blades, Charlie. I am more of a fan of Personnas than others are. I’m not too high on Chinese Schicks, but they are popular. Prolines are nice and sharp, but aren’t in an Injector. I have vintage PALs and Personnas that are very good. I’ll give you a few options…as long as I don’t have to use Tabac for longer than 30 days…

30 days of Tabac is plenty unless Mrs. Spartan tells you to keep using it.

 

I had a Tabac stick quite some time ago, and I don't think it elicited a visceral response...unlike a few other scents. Gentleman is banned...Mountain Man in AS form is as well.
She is a fan of Old Spice and Brut, believe it or not.

 

Just think that when Charlie wins the contest in Jan '22, you will have to add the real Tabac to your den and shave 30 consecutive shaves with it. Oh the humanity! Lol on Long Island!

 

I have said many times that Tabac is a great lather. Now that it is reformulated, my worry is that I'm going to smell 'like Certs left in the bottom of a leather purse' without the benefit of a top tier lather...

 

@Primotenore I'd probably buy Mike's Hungarian Lavender (or maybe try another one of his scents) when my Stirling runs out in my three-soap rotation. I can't rule out more Stirling soaps showing up, though, as my Sister buys them as presents for me.

It took me several years to work through a pile of soaps, creams, and aftershaves I purchased early on. I'm down to stuff I really enjoy using now. When I visited my first shaving forum, I saw a "no buy" thread and couldn't understand what that was all about. Now I do.

 

Lol! I am glad that I have the Tabac stick. It does not make a difference to me whether it is vegan or not. I want the same scent and performance as the original.

 

It looks like Randy, the ice cream man from Florida.

 

Some of my favourite lathers are vegan (SV, Castle Forbes etc), I just don't like to hear that a popular base has been changed. That usually isn't a good thing (C & E, etc)
