Another twist for you. You mentioned that your TV Rockets have the II under the head and Pat Pending in the blade tray? The one that came in this set has the II under the head, but says Brit Pat 694093 in the blade tray.
That would seem to indicate that this Rocket was made over a period of years instead of a one year run like the US TV Special. There is still so much to learn of Rockets! Rodd, what does yours say?
Very interesting... I hadn't really looked, I assumed they were all the same, mine has Brit. Pat. 694093 also. Chris, do you want weights of my Rockets?
Now OK? aluminum Rocket with brass silo doors - 33g English flare SS - 57g aluminum handled HD with brass head and TTO - 57g TV, and Regular flare tip - 59g Parat - 61g Rocket - 63g (gold version is same weight) Red tip - 68g Aristocrat Junior - 70g HD - 71g
Now I see why I take to the Aristocrat Jr. so well. I like the heavy one also, razors that is. I wish there was an HD with an Aristocrat flat plate up top! That would be the perfect razor IMO.
So far the closest I've come to a #16 is the case like the one in Achin's photo. I had one and gave it away. No razor...yet.
I bid on a cased gold 16 the other day. Went pretty cheap, but the gold looked like hell. I wanted it just so I could shave with it. I guess 4th place is the closest I have come to owning one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=190287263663 listed at 82g!
I saw that one and if things were going better I would have bid higher than it sold for. I really want to try one too someday.
Just got done reading this thread. Very nicely done. A fine piece of literature. Thanks MT for putting this together!
It was really my pleasure and I learned a lot by putting everything in one place. Literature? That could go to my head. Original post updated with a partial weight chart.
Dear MTgrayling What is the main differeces between Gilette english patt rocket and Gilette Rocket ? Regards!
