Wonderful Japanese straight shave this morning. Easy three pass shave which the razor stealthy mowed done the 24 hour whiskers. I have continued with the soap in an effort to hastened it’s demise. I have about 25 grams left in the tub which means either 8-9 shaves to go before it is Edmund Fitzgerald.

    Have a great day gentlemen.

Thanks Jeff. I actually had started a "winter beard" about 2 weeks ago, but the darn masks at work just kept it too itchy, so this little open comb took it all down in 1 easy pass.

    Good news Joe!

Switched to New Deluxe as I continue to move chronologically through my Open Combs this month. A little less smooth than it's New Improved cousin, but quite efficient.
    Have a great day all!

Congrats, but I wouldn't THINK of the gym if I had a high temp.

Lovely shave kit, Jason. Is the baseplate the primary difference between the New Deluxe and New Standard?

    Hembree Not as pretty smelling

It is a piece of aluminum tubing pressed onto the head fixture. It still works like the original.

98.7 is normal temp, Paul. Your reply does not make sense. I could go to the gym today, but I just want a rest day.

Not that this is any of my business, but his response does make sense, Joe. On tuesday, in your shave report, you noted that your temp was, and I quote "99+" and that you were going to the gym for light cardio.

Others know far more than I do, Jeff, but I believe the baseplate is the primary difference. There are also New Deluxes with the threads in the top of a one piece handle (like the NEWs that followed it). This one is threaded through a separate piece in the bottom of the handle like my other New Improved, the Bostonian. It is also my understanding that the 'Bostonian' designation was just because of the fancy case...besides that, it is just a regular New Improved, like your New Standard.
