Those of us who can remember feel this way but think about the sad fact that younger people have never known anything else. I'm not arguing for constant immediate gratification but I do understand some of the motivation behind the behavior. It absolutely doesn't excuse someone from making poor choices like using their phone while driving. I appreciate areas where law enforcement aggressively enforce distracted driving laws. New Jersey is pretty hardcore with it and people take it seriously.
I bet that guy's wife got mad at him later..."I love you too baby....YOU MORON, GET OUTTA THE WAY!" (I wouldn't blame his wife for being mad, y'know?)
I've seen women driving, eating a salad, with the salad in their lap, fork in one hand, and the cell phone in the other. Crazy. Sorry women, but they consistently seem to be the worst offenders, of distracted driving.
TBH I have seen male drivers on the highway with an iPad on the steering wheel, and some driving 130 km/h while trying to get something from the glove box (needing almost two lanes in the process) ... I don't have the impression that there's much difference in stupidity between the sexes
I remember Walter Cronkite narrated a program where cars could be made for people wanting to shave or make coffee while driving. Great way to get a shave cut.
