i would probably send it out to somewhere like razor emporium,or at least someone with experience playing with rockets..
Agreed. I would definitely send it to Razor Emporium for their Razor Revamp service. And if you wanted to get it replated, they can do that at the same time as well. But as far as fixing mechanical issues like the doors, they are excellent.
One more endorsement for the razor tune up service at Razor Emporium. I recently sent in a sad Gillette red tip that was badly out of whack: the doors would not even close all the way. It came back perfect and gleaming! https://theshaveden.com/forums/index.php?posts/2000602
Thanks Gary, that's what I was thinking but ya never know when someone in here has the simple quick fix solution. I'm mechanically inclined but I don't have the tool selection or the clamps and vises to do the intricate work.
i've done minor door adjustments on some when needed but, nothing major.been lucky so far.rocket center bar mechanisms are quite brittle, don't ask how i know..
I recently acquired one of these, I don't imagine it'll be any different from a nickel fat handle, but whatever, something new. Love the case, gotta find one for mine still.
Used my Gillette New Improved Tuckaway today. Originally nickel plated, I had it replated in rhodium.
Here's a Gillette ABC set with a factory engraved case I found years ago. It includes a factory repaired razor (secondary L serial number). It is a complimentary set, given to whom is anyone's guess. Maybe someone here can fill in that blank.
