Razor - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements "Starling V2"
Blade - Personna GEM Stainless Steel Coated *2nd Shave
Brush - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements "The Green Ray" *Faux Horse Hair
Deodorant - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements "Scentless"
Post-Shave Balm - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements "Mysterium Serum"
Shave Soap & Splash - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements "Harvest Moon"

***EDIT - 2 passes. Nice result overall after the post shave. I suspected that maybe I had caused irritation, so I went to the PAA Alum block, but no sting was felt and it wiped out the single weeper I had going. Everything came out great. I cold water rinsed the alum off, which always leaves some remaining residue of alum. The splash didn't sting and the balm felt soothing. In the end my fears of irritation were just paranoia. Great shave. I suppose I have to "trust the tools" sometimes. PAA's stuff has been fantastic for me as always.

    Shaving recipe for today.

Prep: Warm shower:/Asda Tingly Minty & Tea Tree Shower Gel.

    Pre:
Cold wet flannel to my face.
    Pears Transparent Bar Soap.
Brush: Yaqi 24mm Naples Tuxedo Synthetic.
    Bowl Lather.
Bowl: Home Bargains Stainless Steel Side Bowl.
Lather: Pearlman shaver's Spirit Shaving Soap.
Blade: Indian Gillette 7'oClock SP.( D1)
    Razor: Parker 98r.

    Post:
Cold water Face wash with brush squeezings, Cold Water Face Rinse. /Homemade (~Autumn/Winter mix~) peppermint lavender, eucalyptus, + Tea Tree essential Oils Mixed Together With 200ml of Care+Witch Hazel./P&G Old Spice Swagger ASL./Cien Sensitive ASB.

    Greetings,

A new shave set up to start the weekend... Continuing with my month focusing on using the Parker 98r..like all of my parker razors it has a nice heft the long handle has a decent grip without the fear of it slipping when shaving, you get a great audio feedback....I must be honest and say my first few shaves with the 98r where not a pleasurable experience i found it quite big and awkward and thought i had bought it on impulse and was too aggressive for me and wasn't sure if it was for me, but with patience, learning my technique & gaining shaving confidence it became a razor which i felt comfortable to use...It's well balanced out enough between the razor head and handle and the hefty weight like all my Parker razors the is a bonus and has taught me to use the razor without adding hardly any pressure while shaving rewarding me with some sublime shaves...Learning your technique & gaining shaving confidence is the key to comfortable error free shaves.

A enjoyable 2 pass + pick ups close comfortable shave with no errors to report...Finishing to the shave off with a small dollop of Cien Sensitive ASB.

My face is feeling silky smooth & smelling divine.;)

Stay safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend ladies & gentlemen.

    Consecutive Daily Shaves - # 1,095

Well 3 years straight of consecutive daily shaves without missing a day................probably more but that's since I started documenting/counting. It's a mile marker but not really a big deal as it is enjoyable start to every day. Did a video just as a marker for it and to show the Ever Ready Set and "Spalted" Brush. The Maggards 26mm 2 Band was a joy 1st use and not a single shed hair. It's a bargain and I need more of them as backups for future brushes. Onto the Hillside with the chainsaw again today..............after some coffee and rum cake. Have a swell day everyone !!

    Neutrogena Deep Clean Facial Wash
    Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
    Super Speed/Minora day 10
    MSC Chieftain SS
    Bull Dog Moisturizer
    Hega AS Splash
    Bleu de Chanel Deodorant Stick
    Bleu de Chanel Parfum

Unbelievable - this Chieftain soap which Fernando makes has a scent that blows me away - it’s a carbon copy of Hugo Boss Bottled, it’s tallow based so the lather works up so thick, rich, and slick, and the skincare is superb. The Bull Dog moisturizer is so soothing, and the Hega aftershave from Sweden has a neutral scent as well as a pleasant cooling sensation. Another picture perfect BBS shave!

Baie dankie Fernando my broer vir hierdie fantasties seep!

Be well and safe - enjoy your day and your shaves!

SOTD SATURDAY MORNING, NOVEMBER 6, 2021

Closing a pool this late in the season is not a lot of fun. The problem was scheduling a Saturday when my 21 and 18 year old grandsons would both be available to help. SWMBO and my Kildare have both forbidden me from doing anything other than supervising. This is the first time I haven’t done it all myself. As my grandfather used to say, “this age shit ain’t for sissies”! Fortunately, they both arrived by 7:00 AM ready to work. Unfortunately, I had SWMBO standing behind me to prevent me from pitching in. As the years passed, what used to take me about about an hour had stretched out to almost 2 1/2 hours. My grandsons finished in 30 minutes, leaving me time for a shower and an awesome shave.

This morning’s mug shave featured the new-to-me Filarmonica 13 Novodur. This razor at approximately 6/8 falls right into my sweet spot. The first thing I always do whenever a new straight arrives is to assess the flatness of blade and the sharpness of the edge. The Filly arrived from Japan a few weeks ago flat as a pancake and popping styrofoam. It had a buttery smooth edge which my son, Ben, touched up on his prized Uchigomori stone. Experienced open edge shavers always instruct new straight shavers to imagine they are just wiping away the lather. Well that’s what this morning’s 2 1/2 pass mug shave felt like leaving this old man’S mug delightfully smooth.

Yesterday’s noggin shave with the Ronson safety razor was very good. My friend David really enjoys using that razor, but he’s not a dome shaver. The Ronson does a decent job on the noggin for me, but it pales in comparison to any of my three Shake Sharps. My absolute favorite is the Bakelite handled Model 1, but there’s really no difference in shave quality between it and either my nickel or gold plated metal handled Model 2’s. The G.E. Jones Shake Sharp is the only SE I know of that takes an unmodified DE blade. I like to stack two DEs in the razor, which emulates the very slightly thicker carbon steel DE blades of the thirties the razor was designed for. I’ve never cut myself with this razor, and this morning’s two pass ATG dome shave maintained the razor’s rep leaving me velveteen smooth from noggin to shoulders!

RAZOR: Filarmonica 13 Novodur (Mug), G.E. Jones Shake Sharp (Dome)
BLADE: 2 Stacked Feather DEs (Dome)
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: JR Rosewood Silvertip Badger #377
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Pre de Provence Bergamot & Thyme AS Balm.

Day 6 of 3D Printed Razor Month.

The Mystic Water Cedar & Sage Shave Soap lathered well with Jayaruh #144 Finest Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Wabbit 3D Injector Razor with a Personna Injector Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Cella ASB. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
