Awesome shave set up Joe... Cella & old Spice!..A classic duo that every traditional wet shaver should try. :love055:

Thanks Barry! Personally, I think every shaver should experience Cella. Unfortunately, this Old Spice is not the Schulton version that I remember my dad and others used. It's the Proctor and Gamble reiteration that doesn't evoke my childhood memories of the original. However, these two brands are definitely revered by the traditional wet shaving community.

    Greetings,

This morning i had to rub my fingertips with a alum block inbetween each pass to stop the hefty barber pole handle of the 98r from slipping while shaving.

An acceptable 2 pass + pick ups comfortable shave with no errors to report....Finishing to the shave off with a few small squirts of Milton Lloyd President EdT to the pulse points..

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine.;)

It seems your humming along with the Parker 98R. I have never tried Proraso Blue, but I am positive that it lathers well. Have an awesome afternoon Barry!

This morning I closed out(for now)the Sir Hare soap/Stoylin Unscented A.S. combo. I was happy with the shave. The only glitch was in trying another "experiment"(with the shaving motion, not with tools). I tried an A(gainst)TG over N. Porcupine Alley. I'd seen many of you do that in videos. Sounds good, let me try it. What happened. A CUT. Must have been an angle problem. After the cut I returned to my normal routine of South-to-North along the edges and North-to-South down the middle. I'm just glad the Stoylin A.S. prevented the cut from serious bleeding. Pleased with Cactus Nation work. There again I tried A(gainst)TG a little bit, and that was better. The Stoylin Unscented A.S. gives you that nice feel of a Stoylin aftershave, without a scent. Course I prefer scented aftershaves, but at times the Unscented works just fine. Super Duper Excellent.

Nice shave Paul! It is good to see you try new approaches to your shaves. Unfortunately, you cut yourself and that was to be expected because you never tried that maneuver before. You even assessed the reason as to why you had the mishap. So, the next time you repeat the ATG over N Porcupine Alley or as we say, the Fool's Pass, use a shallower angle. You will be surprised at the results. I always follow this rule: First go shallow and if the blade doesn't cut the beard efficiently, then gradually increase the angle until the blade does its job properly.

    Good morning gents!

    VDH TTO Razor
    Astra Blue Superior Stainless (2)
    Semogue OC Super Badger Brush
Fine Accoutrements Italian Citrus SS (Original Formula)
    Stirling Bay Rum AS
    Maggard's Alum Block
    Dickinson's WH
    Beard Growth: 24 hrs

    20211106_201000~2.jpg

OK, this is my 5th shave with the VDH razor. I am halfway finished with this mini focus. I rarely use the Fine Acc. Soaps because their scents are almost non-existent. This soap came without a tin so I use it in my shave mug. It has been sitting in the mug for months so there isn't any scent off the puck. However, I will say this soap does my a yogurt, slick lather.
My shave was good. Did 2 passes and got a BBS- shave. I did get a few weeps and some irritation on the stache area. I guess a little to much pressure caused it. This was my 2nd use on this blade and I will toss it because it felt a little rough on my second pass. It also could have been a factor in getting a poor shave on the stache. Also, I want to use another brand that I knew will give me 5 shaves to finish the focus. Did my normal postshave ritual. The alum did give me some feedback. Applied the Witch hazel and ended with a nice burn from the Stirling Bay Rum Aftershave. Have a super day guys!

    DE Shave # 366

    Rating: 5 / 5

Razor: Gillette British Slim TQT (1966 - L2)
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
Brush: Strike Gold Shave Minion 24 mm Badger
    Lather: Cella Crema da Barba
    Aftershave: PAA Chella Cool
    Additional Care:
    Nivea Cool Balm
    Stirling Alum Block
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original

Fantastic Cella shave this morning prior to heading out to church. The badger brush with a 45 second load of soap easily whipped up a nice bowl lather. Super smooth three pass shave shave with the Gillette British Slim. I know Gary, @brit, would enjoy this one.

Excellent shave Joe. That is the first time that I have seen a Gillete British Slim. It definitely looks different. Cella is always a great choice!
The straight razor blade doesn't look bad at all. Keep us posted on the restoration.
