Testing the ‘suminagashi’ stone, better than the other kan but clear water testing is needed. Soap was Savonnerie Bon Berger rosemary lavender lathered with a @Life2short1971 brush and a little (very little) Myrsol Antesol finished up. The scent of the Antesol seems to have folks a bit puzzled sometimes, some say barbershop, some say no. Well it is a barbershop scent, but it’s patchouli based instead of ‘powder’ based like the Floids or even Myrsol Blue. More in the vein of Musgo Real Classic. It does have a touch of citrus or orange to it, and unlike the other Myrsols that I have, and I have quite a few, the scent is intense and long lasting so I usually use less and dilute it with a few drops of water in the palm of my hand. You can use it as a pre-shave or an after shave.
Traveled the last week with a Schick injector… not bad, but missed my straights. Had this Rigarazor in the mailbox to make me feel better. 3rd owner I think, but just a little CrOx and it is back in the game. Such a nice blade. SOTD SUNDAY MORNING, NOVEMBER 7, 2021 This morning I shaved with one of my favorite vintage razors, the Manhattan Cutlery 13/16, restored magnificently about a year or so ago by David Work. John Newton opened ‘Manhattan Works’ at 11 Arundel Lane in Sheffield, England in 1887 as a cutlery manufacturer for export to the United States in the factory first opened by Arthur Lee & Son in 1861. Their razors developed quite a following for the quality of their edge. If you can get your hands on one, I’d encourage you to do so. Mine is just a magnificent shaving tool that always delivers as it did this morning in two and a half passes leaving yours truly’s mug porcelain smooth. When I grabbed my Eclipse Red Ring, another Sheffield shaving tool, adjusted for its most efficient noggin shave I knew I was slated for the same quality of dome shave as I’d just experienced on my mug! The Eclipse Red Ring designed and built by James Neill who founded ‘James Neill and Co.’ in 1889 in Sheffield and produced during the early 30s had two patents and was incredibly innovative for its time. One was for the razor itself and the second for the magnet at the base of the handle, designed for picking up dropped DE blades safely. Two ATG passes put the baby to bed and left your very pleased narrator baby bum smooth from shoulders to dome. RAZOR: Manhattan Cutlery 13/16 (Mug), Eclipse Red Ring (Dome) BLADE: Feather DE (Dome) PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil BRUSH: JR Cashmere Synth Knot #343 SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. User grade Novodur, soap was MWF lathered with an Omega boar, and a dab of ABC almond balm finished up a fine Sunday shave.

Karl, why not send it to Glenn and have him unpin the razor and remove the grommet intact? He might be able to clean up the ‘grommet vomit’ on the scales too but IDK about that.
Maybe, seems like a lot of work for an annoyance. I could trade it as well. Tough call, I love the look of that blade and the shave tonight was outstanding. Love/hate, aye?

Cut it off yourself. Who cares what others think. Dont be surprised if there is rust under the rubber grommer.
A sound EPBD grommet may be worth $100 to a restorer? These are collector’s razors now, so I advise not destroying anything that you don’t have to. And yes, there will likely be grommet vomit, rust under the grommet.
I don't remember where, but I saw packs of NOS grommets for sale, a year or two ago. They were pretty cheap. Personally, they are a PITA. I have them on a razor or two, and have contemplated cutting them off.
Personally I don’t see the point having rubber around the tang? If you have problems holding the razor probably you will have problems using it…. No offence from my side! Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
