Well I respect your view Gary, but I am going to politely disagree. I don't have a problem with anyone using the same setup for a 30 day rule or use a particular razor for a set amount of shaves as a focus because that is the main intent of this thread. If you remember, I did a 30 day rule using my smaller Wostenholm straight 2 yrs ago at this time and I have done a couple of focuses. With the rule, I changed my daily text focusing on the razor and some other aspect of the shave. With the focus, there is more flexibility because I can keep or change the software to make my posts more interesting to the reader. Bottomline, your posts don't bore me because I learn from them. BTW, I miss the car background pics. Just changing the scenery makes your posts interesting.

I never go more than 24 hours without a full shave and sometimes will do an evening one pass on the beard just because I like to. "Pass" means different things to different people, mine just means a single lather, no a single direction shave, I'll go two directions with one lather.

thank you Joe..i will say that a tech focus has far more similar shaves to me as they differ the least shave wise, compared to gillettes tto range.ie superspeed to aristocrat ranges.but the techs are quite mild and offer an opportunity to dial in technique.as for a rule i like others did that with a mach 3 cart for numerous years,so ..;).the cars will come back but not during a focus..i will say that i am improving the hard soap lathers in varying degrees, both bowl and face lathers.for many who have come and gone here the gillette de shave is a basic starting point, then moving on or up to SE,shavettes or straights.i am sure crowing about a gillette tech for the 200th time could get long in the tooth for more seasoned members..:D..:eatdrink047:

    Sunday and Monday Focus Shaves
    Razor: Karve brass D plate
    Blade: Nacet
Brush: Trotter Handcrafts black locust handle
    Soap: Stirling Texas on Fire
    IMG_20211108_195529175.jpg
Two wonderful nights with the D plate. That makes four shaves in a row using the same razor, and I look forward to using it each night. Used the Henson on the dome Sunday, so tonight's growth was light. I used the Karve on the head, and it is smoother than my face.

I had a slight mishap on Sunday night. I began shaving and the razor felt very rough. I did a few strokes, and things were getting quite uncomfortable. I usually disassemble to clean and store the blade in the wrapper. On Friday, figuring I would be using the same setup, I left the razor assembled but loose to dry out. I completely forgot to retighten the handle. Thankfully no harm done.

Great shave Eric! I did the same thing and forgot to tighten the razor. Well I did get a memory line because of my forgetfulness.

    Good evening!

I decided to shave tonight instead of tomorrow morning.

Van der Hagen TTO Razor 6th shave of focus
    Rockwell DE Blade (1)
    MrEE Tuxedo Brush
Stirling Frankincense and Myrrh SS and AS
    Maggard's Alum Block
    Dickinson's WH
    Beard Growth: 35.5 hrs

    20211108_221718~4.jpg

Stirling F and M shave soap is my least favorite scent. It is an earthy scent and I just prefer brighter ones. I think that I may have used it 2 or 3 times so it is a relatively new puck. I bloomed it and used the bloomed water as my preshave. My Mr EE Tuxedo brush whipped up a nice, slick, creamy lather that I have come to expect with this brand. I used a brand new Rockwell razor and despite what most shavers think, these blades work well for me. Did a 2 pass shave without touchups, irritation or blood loss for a near BBS shave.
The alum treatment gave little feedback. Splashed on the witch hazel and the matching aftershave.
I only have 4 more shaves to finish my 10 shave focus with the VDH. I have to say that I am really appreciating this razor because I have gotten very good shaves with it this past week. Have a goodnight!

You know I love Stoylin, but I'm not sure I'd try F&M.

I bought it with Stirling Christmas Eve and Stirling Spice in Nov 2019. This was my last order of soap from Stirling. As I previously mentioned, it is an earthy scent. It is not unpleasant, but it does not make me want to use it. Of course, I will use it because I don't like to waste anything. However, I would not repurchase it.

November Midweek (T - Fri) Mini Focus
Razor: JR Torrey Celebrated Hollow Ground
Brush: Hembree Derlin Paragon Boar 25 mm
    Lather: Razorock XXX
    Aftershave: PAA Harvest Moon
    Additional Care:
    Nivea Cool Balm
    Stirling Alum Block
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original

This soap will be Edmund Fitzgerald next Tuesday. I must say that I have used three different Razorock soaps. All deliver a very nice slick lather. Good value for the dollar.

The JR Torrey easily took care of today’s growth. Super smooth and comfortable shave without incident of any crimson or irritation.

This afternoon I have an appointment with the surgeon. I must say I am pleased with the progress of the shoulder.

Hope you all have a great day gentlemen.

Awesome shave Joe. This will be your 6th soap that you exhausted and that is one more than your original goal. Kudos to you. I am sure this will be a routine checkup for you. Enjoy the 60 + degree weather.
