SRS # 593 Rating: 5 / 5 Razor: Genco-Old Dutch 3/4” Brush: Jayaruh 381 Badger/Boar Lather: Razorock XXX Aftershave: Derby City Chop Shop Small Batch Tonic- Winter Reserve Additional Care: Nivea Cool Balm Stirling Alum Block Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original Happy Veterans Day to all who have served. Thank you for your service to our great country. Another great shave this morning with the RR XXX and a great New York made straight, the Genco Old Dutch. I received the SWMBO SOA, a term borrows from a former leader of the 30DC, Joe, @Primotenore. No copyright infringement due to absence from this thread. Three pass shave as is my normal delivers an ultra smooth and close shave. The Small Batch splash is a nice change of pace with the citrusy scent of the soap. Smelling and looking good gentlemen. Have a great day.
It was advertised variously as the Stahly Live Blade and Stahly Stroke Saver. Or both. I use ATT handles on mine. Sent from my LG-US998 using Tapatalk
Saw this yesterday, Myles and thought of you. PLUS, I scored this huge bottle of vintage Warner Polo Green. There's about 5-6oz remaining in this huge 8oz bottle. ($13.00)
Focus Shave - Third Razor Razor: Yates 921-M Blade: Personna Brush: Omega boar Soap: Proraso green For the last two shaves I have put the focus on my absolute favorite razor. We go together like peas and carrots. The M plate is so efficient and leaves absolutely no irritation on my face. The H plate provides the same safe and gentle efficiency I experience with the Henson medium. These last two shaves have been sublime. Last night I used my sample of Stirling Varen, the mutton based soap. I was so pleased with the effortless BBS and comfortable post-shave feel. I selected Proraso tonight, which to me does not contain the same level of luxury as the Varen. I feel no irritation or discomfort at all. This is most welcome as there was a slight warmth on my face after each shave with my previous focus razor.
Awesome shaves Eric! I like Proraso Green and I find that it lathers well and gives me the slickness I need. I am a Stirling fan and I find that I never fail with lathering it. I agree that it is far better than Proraso. However, I like the old tried and true brands that have been around for many decades such as Tabac, Proraso and Arko. Have a good night!
Nov. 11 2021 SOTN Good evening! VDH DE Razor 8th shave Rockwell DE Blade (3) JR #386 Silvertip Badger Brush Stirling Spice SS and AS Maggard's Alum Block Dickinson's Witch Hazel Beard Growth: 39 hrs I dedicate this shave to our vets today. Thank you for your service. This is my 8th straight shave with the Van der Hagen razor and I have to say it really has performed well. It still will not be in my top four in safety razors, but I have grown to appreciate it. What hasn't been said about the goodness of Stirling soaps? I got a nice lather with Spice and it is really a warm, cologne scent. The Rockwell blade is a great combo with this razor. They are both on the lighter side of intermediate efficiency. I got an almost BBS shave with just two passes without any blood loss, pickups or irritation. The alum feedback was very minimal. Splashed on the Dickinson's and gave myself a double dose of matching aftersave. Two more shaves with the VDH razor and I will complete this focus. They will be weekend shaves so tomorrow will be a non-shave day. Take care guys!
SRS # 594 Rating: 5 / 5 Razor: Genco-Old Dutch 3/4” Brush: Jayaruh 381 Badger/Boar Lather: Razorock XXX Aftershave: Floid Genuine Additional Care: Nivea Cool Balm Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original Stirling Alum Block The Edmund Fitzgerald came calling for the tub of RR XXX. I have officially completed my fifth tub of soap which has been a goal for 2021. I will keep moving forward in reducing the den. I have been in a NB mode for soaps since June of 2020. Once again another fine three pass shave this morning. The results were a carbon copy of yesterday’s. The Genco razor does not hold any prisoners. It is such a wonderful razor. The final lather whipped up by the Jayaruh 381 boar was thick and luxurious. I wonder which soap will be designated for the next meet up with the Edmund Fitzgerald? Stay tuned! Have a great day gentlemen.
