No Paul. He is a well known YouTuber that usually shaves with DE Razors. He uses different soaps to show the pros and cons of them.

Last Day of Focus on the Fat
Razor: Henson Al13 (mild for the face, medium for the dome)
    Blade: Astra SP
    Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Brush: Simpson's Trafalgar 3

I have been truly enjoying the Mitchell's WF soap this week. However, I have been experiencing nightly post-shave face irritation as well. I am inclined to think it was the Feather blade, and not a sensitivity to the lanolin in the soap. I wanted to eliminate the variables and focus on the soap. Today I chose products very well known to be skin friendly to me, the Astra blade in the Henson razor. I also chose the fluffy T3 in contrast to the boar brushes I have been using to reduce the possibility of brush scratch.

I am pleased to report an effortless BBS shave with no irritation at all. The Henson is truly a miracle razor for my skin. This is the absolute best face shave I have experienced for a while. My Henson mild had been out on loan since April and just found its way back home. I did not realize how very much I missed Ol' Blue.

Thank you Joe....I'll be "experimenting" with bodywashes these days...see which feele better on me, drug-store brands(Dial, Nivea, etc.)or ones I have to purchase on line(Agadir, Stoylin, etc.). The bodywashes set up my shaves.

Excellent shave Eric. I like your scientific method on eliminating the MWF as the cause of your irritation. The Henson's 30 degree geometry takes the guesswork out of the shaver's hands and therefore it eliminates irritation. It is possible that you didn't have the right shave angle or it could be that the blade is not good for your beard and/or skin type.

Sounds like a plan. I prefer bar soaps such as Duke Cannon and Stirling.

You're right-I remember seeing a video of him doing his 10 favorite soaps. I think Fine was his #1 though, but it was interesting to see his other 9.

The holiday season is around the corner so Stirling Christmas Eve got the call.
This is my fourth straight shave in a row and I think that's a record for me. I am going out this evening and I wanted to look my best. Otherwise, I could have waited until tomorrow. Stirling is one of the best values on the market and I appreciate it.

This razor is still wickedly sharp. Two years ago, I bought this razor as a set on Flea Bay and both razors came shave shave ready and they still are today.
It was a 2 pass shave, but on the first pass I got a weep on my lower right neck and got a nice slice on left sideburn. Needless to say, I wasn't thrilled. I didn't have styptic pen so I used my alum block. During my second pass it was still bleeding, but I went over the area lightly. Washed and rinsed my face with cold water and then hit the cut again with the alum. Surprisingly, it looks like I just scratched myself. The wound was superficial. I attribute this slice because I did not properly land the straight evenly, therefore, the tip of the square pt caught me. Thankfully, I have a light touch or I would have needed stitches. The quality of the shave was a BBS - because I didn't need to add more memory lines on my face while touching up.
The alum gave me very little feedback at the wound and the rest of my face. Applied witch hazel and followed with that glorious aftershave. Finally, I used Noxema Creme all over my face because I find the healing properties pretty amazing. I know that it competes with the aftershave, but I will splash on a fresh dose before I go out this evening. Take care guys!

Sorry you got bad cuts. I like your brush handle.

Actually, they weren't bad cuts Paul. Here is the slice on my sideburn area. That was the worst of the two errors. The weep on my lower neck was nothing.

    Shaving recipe for today.

Prep: Warm shower:/Asda Pomegranate & Apple Extract Shower Gel.

    Pre:
Cold wet flannel to my face.
    Pears Transparent Bar Soap.
    Brush:Yaqi 24mm Sagrada Familia Synthetic.
    Bowl Lather.
Bowl: Home Bargains Stainless Steel Side Bowl.
Lather: Kiss My Face Peaceful Patchouli Shave Cream.
Blade: Treet 7 Days Platinum. (D1)
    Razor: Parker 98r.

    Post:
Cold water Face wash with brush squeezings, Cold Water Face Rinse. /Homemade (~Autumn/Winter mix~) peppermint lavender, eucalyptus, + Tea Tree essential Oils Mixed Together With 200ml of Care+Witch Hazel./ Pashana Original ASL./ L'0REAL Barber Club Reinforcing ASB.

    Greetings,

A new shave set up to start the weekend...It's been a while since i last used the KMF shave cream, it created a wonderful lather without drying out in between passes the post shave feeling from this shave cream is superb... The Treet 7 day platinum are another blade that pairs well with the Parker 98r... I forgot how smooth and sharp the Treet 7 days blades are...The characteristics of them are very like the Astra SP blade in sharpness, with a slightly sharper edge ,which can be a little rough on the first pass, like a lot of DE blades, but after that they mellow out...As always DE blade opinions are very subjective...Yet again i had to rub my fingertips with a alum block inbetween each pass to stop the razor handle from slipping while shaving.

A pleasurable 2 pass + pick ups close comfortable shave with no errors to report...Finishing the shave off with a small dollop of L'0REAL Barber Club Reinforcing ASB.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine.;)

Stay safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend ladies & gentlemen.

Awesome shave Barry. Nice little trick with the alum block to counteract the slippery wet surface of the razor handle.
