My first guard was for an Ed Brice, and it worked out pretty well: https://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/kamisori-blade-guard.61824/

With the J3 Kamisori arriving, I used it as another opportunity to have some fun. Instead of wood with bone, I went horn with wood in an effort to accent the wrap.

The horn chosen were very cheap blanks from Maggards because they were warped and had other faults. Thought this would be a good use. Not sure about the type of wood, but liked the contrasting color to the horn.

I went wider so I could add the twine, or maybe in the future a cord or leather shoelace… more for aesthetics than function at this point.

The back needed some “surgery” to account for the tang width and the wrap.

I like the way it sits in there now. :)

I might play with some additional shaping and sanding, but here is a close to final pic:

    And one with the Brice:

    Enjoy your projects.

Very well done. I think you are right. Leather would look perfect, instead of the twine.
