I decided to do a face and a headshave using the same gear. I am keeping the DE December theme this morning by choosing my Gillette Slim Adjustable. Everything went well with this above-the-shoulder shave. Have a great day gents!

Awesome three pass shave this morning. I needed a little barbershop scent so the Honor had to come out. Just a hint of alum. I did something this morning I have never done before. After getting ready for work and about to go out the door I noticed a little spot on my right ear lobe....yes the Nodachi got me. I'll live....tist just a scratch!

I have a Focus R51-5 Trilok flat top on the way in. It should be here Monday. It is a very mild razor with no bend in the blade....should be a fun razor with a Feather blade. Picture below.

Abanner day with a phenomenal shave with the FA Clauberg CopperKing and the go ahead from the surgeon to begin the X3Bar workouts. Beast Mode will become apparent by sometime in mid February. Now it remains to be seen if I can trim down the fat and weight while toning up. I did it before with my first fore ray into the X3Bar program. No reason why I can’t do it again. Look at Joe, @Trigger, game on.

Back to the shave. Three passes have left my face ultra smooth. Glen, @gssixgun, did a fabulous job honing this razor. The post shave alum report was silent and the overall feel of the face was phenomenal.

This evening there should be some verbal fireworks directed at the tv as my Vikings take on SWMBO’s Steelers. Playoff hopes for the loser will be all but nonexistent. Go Vikes!

Hello, Shave Denizens! I'm just jumping in so I've got some catching up to do. Here we go!

December 1
Today's shave was my first time using a DE89 clone I recently acquired as well as a Kai blade. Stirling Gentleman is my current favorite fragrance and the soap works wonderfully of course. I had an amazing BBS shave with this combination.



December 3
This was shave two with the Kai blade and my first shave with the Muhle Rocca. I didn't have as great a shave as the previous one which left me a little confused since I assumed the Kai in a Rocca would be a super close shave. I ended up needing to do some blade buffing and had some irritation under the jawline. A just ok DFS result.



December 5
Shave 3 with the Kai blade, this time in a Rockwell Model T. I started on setting 4 and finished on level 2. Another mediocre shave with the Kai blade. Same irritation under the jawline. Not a terrible shave but not as close as I like.



December 7
Today's shave was with one of the new PAA blades in a Mamba 70 razor. This wasn't a great razor/blade combo. The razor and blade are too mild for my whiskers so I didn't get as close a shave as I'd like. I'll be trying the razor with a sharper blade and the blade with a more aggressive razor.



December 9
I have been using Kai and Feather blades as part of a forum challenge. Today it's the Feather's turn. I figured what better razor to try a Feather blade in than a Feather razor. I only have the Popular so out it came. I have never had good luck with Feather blades, regardless of the razor. I find them harsh and ultimately no better a blade than many others I have tried. Despite this, because so many people like this blade I feel like I owe it to myself to keep trying.

Today apparently was not the day that I tame it however. The WTG/XTG passes went well enough but the ATG was a mess. I forgot how mild this razor is so I ended up needing to go over the same areas too many times so I have a ton of irritation and even a few weepers which is unusual for me. I feel a little stuck now since I don't think I'm going to get a good shave out of this combo. I think I will try pairing the second use of this blade with my Mamba or Rocca, something that is at least a tad more efficient.

 

Great shave recaps Eric. I have never tried Kai blades, so I really can't comment. However, I can say that I get great shaves with my Model T. I use the higher settings on most of my adjustables. Truth be told, I am usually at the most efficient setting. I guess that would not be for you because you are getting irritation at the lower settings of your razors. If that's the case,, then maybe go for a smooth, but sharp blades like the Voskhods, etc. Sometimes, the blade/razor combo may work for one shaver, but not the other. It could be the type of beard, growth period, the soap, lathering technique, etc. I don't know how long you have been a traditional wetshaver, but I think it is wise to try different sample packs of blades to find what works best for you, if you haven't done so already.

 

Thanks for the feedback, Joe. I seem to have the best luck with Gillette blades, King C. Gillette being my favorite. I have a backlog of blades to try, Astra among them. I'm assuming that since they are also Russian I'll probably like them. Ill be sure to report back here throughout the month.
