1. I used this photo already in my SOTD, but wanted to post my new Yurii Kravchenko 7/8 extra hollow here as well! In addition I also specified a pinch grip, barber’s notch and blue stabilized maple burl scales. Yurii met all specs!

  7. Christmas gift from the family - a fine Tamako Masa Steel from Iron Sand from the @lindyhopper66 collection. I’d reached my limit but really wanted this so it got adopted by the rest of the family and put away for six months. I’d forgotten about it and it’ll see service soon :happy093:

Can anyone translate the Kanji on the reverse side?

  9. Beautiful Karl! Another great caretaker for that blade. :eatdrink047:

Had a few drop through the mail slot myself…
Couldn’t resist joining the Thistle Cutlery train based on Jeff’s glowing reports.

Great condition for the blade and the box, so excited to sharpen this one up… and inflation was only 5x the original $3 price to get it to my door. :)

And this beauty of a 7-day set had my name written all on it…

Okay, actually it was Johan Engstrom’s name. :)
All but Wednesday’s scales are completely intact, and the blades are really nice. Saturday had some rust that easily came off with a SE blade, but most resemble this:

Should be some quick work to clean up. Fun find.
    Happy hunting.

  14. Congratulations Tom! The Dannemora Cast Steel is actually made by Österby Bruk (Bruk=Steel Works). The Ore was from Dannemora Mine. Österby Bruk was founded by the Swedish King Gustav Wasa in 1525 and the production stopped in 1983. Dannemora Mine stopped the production 2015. Dannemora is also a Prison in your country.. most likely named after the village in Sweden.

  16. It says "Hand-Made bottom forging" which I take to mean 'hand-made drop forged.' It is pretty much how traditional Japanese knives are made, with an artisan working at a trip hammer.

  20. Three out of 12 acquired razors for $60…
One I scraped due to broken edge.

From top a razor with a Barrel with a tap, marked No12C and “Velvet Edge” on the blade 18mm. Manufacturer??

Next one is a really old CVH frame back with inscription “ Dannemora Gjutstål” 6/8”.

Last one F.W. Söderén, 18mm, inscription “Gold Medal” Filadelfia 1876, Eskilstuna 1878, Köpenhamn 1888 and Stockholm 1897.
Note that Philadelphia is spelled differently in Swedish.
