SOTD TUESDAY MORNING, DECEMBER 28, 2021 Our company left yesterday! As I’ve told the bride many times, guests and fish both begin to stink after three days! How nice to have the house to myself again. SWMBO is at work, and I have contractors downstairs in the basement, installing a new furnace. The contractor is an old friend whose son and grandson do the hefting and toting. We met when he was just starting his business. I was his second customer. He installed central air conditioning in my first house a little over half a century ago. We later discovered we belonged to the same gun club, and used to hunt birds and shoot trap together every Friday for almost forty years. I hadn’t seen my old friend, Doug, since my cancer surgery seven years ago. He no longer goes on jobs, but he showed up this morning with his progeny to install the new furnace. I made us breakfast which we enjoyed with some nice Irish coffee while the work was done downstairs. Anyway, back to this morning’s shave. The C-Mon Special is one of my extra hollow singing razors. After a touch up last night following the drop off of our guests at the airport, and a pass through the constroption, my mug shave went splendidly. Two and a half singing passes and the mug was smooth as my great granddaughter’s behind. The Rex Ambassador, my favorite adjustable, cleared away my noggin stubble in the usual two ATG passes. After breakfast, my old friend Doug seemed fascinated by my straight razor collection. So I sent him home with a freshly honed and pasted Genco 35 and bench strop along with my Feather DX fitted with a Feather Proguard blade. I also introduced him to Lynn Abrams‘s introductory shave video. Looks like there may be a fellow geriatric straight shaver in the works! RAZOR: C-Mon Special 11/16 (Mug), Rex Ambassador (Dome) BLADE: Feather DE (Dome) BRUSH: Viking Silvertip Badger POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys WH. Finished with Old Spice Fresh Lime AS Splash.

Dec 28th 2021 Razor: Valet Auto-strop, Canadian variant-Mfg 1920's-1930's, interesting tame mid range razor for its time period, this model works well with a Feather FHS-10 blade because the blade still fits the proprietary clamp system. Nice razor once in while for a morning shave. Daughters Christmas gift. Blade: Feather FHS-10, sharp and smooth with terrible longevity IMO, 2 shaves then tossed for myself. Soap: Cyril R Salter Indian Sandal wood cream, great sandal wood scent, with excellent lather qualities.(misted) Brush: Yaqi 24mm Orbital ring boar bristle, excellent lather generator, soft split end hair tips, nice scrubber, great lather painter. Pre shave: Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera Gel on the cleaned beard area. Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. Post shave: Witch hazel cleanse + Ogallala Bayrum with Sandalwood+ a dollop of CeraVe Moisturizer lotion(balm) + scentless. Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers= excellent shave with my 1930's Valet auto strop with a Feather FHS-10 blade. Have some great shaves!

Hi Friends, here is my last shave in 2021. For my last shave of the year I took a razor, which I searched for years. Razor: Ever-Ready Streamline // Blade: GEM Stainless // Soap: Saponificio Varesino Felce Aromatica // Brush: RazoRock 400 // Aftershave: L’Occitane Balm Great shave. The razor is build like a tank, gentle and thoroughly. 2-passes were enough to be near BBS. Excellent razor. For me, the soap is one of THE best out there. Lather is fantastic, the scent is heavenly and the post shave feeling is top notch. The brush had no problems whipping up a yoghurt like lather. Today no Aftershave. I’ve used a Balm. This balm is a great one. Expensive, yes, but you only need a pea sized amount so the balm will last you a long time which makes the price better. A great last shave to end this awful year.
