Tanifuji 928 Silver steel. Alex Gilmore brought these back from Japan a number of years ago snd there were only three in the box. He sold one and asked if I wanted one or both, so I did both. The scales were a bit off from 50 years of storage, so Alfredo remodeled them with some black horn and ivory. Lovely razors, and a Tanifuji Silver Steel will take and hold the finest of edges.

Herder 49 this morning, soap was MdC agrumes lathered with a SOC. Myrsol Limon is the perfect compliment to the soap.

Last night I had my first shave with a straight edge razor. I have been quite curious to try an DE, and I was very fortunate to get an exceptional price from an individual selling this DX. I employed a feather-light touch and tried to achieve a thin wet lather. Even knowing that, my lather was too thick and the blade would tug on the skin. I misted my face often with water from a spray bottle; would have been an uncomfortable bloody mess otherwise. The straight requires a focused training time. I think I will wait until Feb to give it the attention it deserves. Jan will be injector month.

I did two passes. Final result was pretty good on cheeks, so-so on neck, two nicks on chin, one nick above moustache area. Not too bad for my first go.

Thank you Hans, it was apparently new and was an eBay razor that others passed up because the images were bad. If I’m interested in a razor that has bad images, I’ll download those images and work them up in Photoshop to see if I can tell more about the razor. I did that here and decided to bid. I think that I was the only bodder, maybe two of us.

Rifuto Silver Steel, starting the year off right. Soap was 3P lathered with a SOC and a dab of ABC almond balm finished up.
