Great shave kit, Eric! I'm also a fan of Schick Twinblades, although I can’t feel much difference between a Schick single and twin. I like using twinblades in my Supply injector. It’s my favorite injector after my Type E. Enjoy your shaves!

Thank you very much for the encouragement and the recommendation Jeff. I need to slow down on acquisitions, but I will keep the Supply in mind.

“ECWS Top 5 Soaps Used for the First Time for 2021” - # 2 for 2021 is the Lakewood Soap Company Lard Lass - Two Weeks with Pay. The scent profile for this soap is as follows: “Passionfruit, jasmine, sweet citrus and exotic florals will have you taking a trip to a tropical island without ever leaving your house.”

I proceeded with my usual three pass shave courtesy of the Double Duck straight. The end result was a comfortably smooth and close shave that is as close to a true BBS as one can received. I pair the soap with the Floid Genuine as I don’t have the complementary shave balm offered by LSC. The Floid Genuine will always be in my den as I like it’s clean and crisp scent with a menthol kick.

I hope you have a great day gentlemen.

Excellent shave Eric. What brand boar did Jim Roe put in that brush? Omega?

    I have 5 Jayaruh brushes, 4 boars and 1 boar/badger mix.

SOTD WEDNESDAY MORNING, JANUARY 5, 2021

I always have mixed feelings whenever I shave with my Dovo Special. I purchased it 7 years ago for my first few straight shaves. So yes, there’s a certain level of sentimentality in using it. However, it also led to a rather severe injury due to an involuntary, then-unmedicated tremor that turned out to be Parkinson’s. Needless to say it went into a drawer for close to 5 years. Both my neurologist and my bride were firmly opposed to my picking it up again.

But pick it up I did, after strapping my wife’s ankle weights to my forearms. After my stroke this past June, I noticed that my forearm/hand tremors seemed to be minimal to nonexistent. After discharge from the rehab hospital, I was again strongly encouraged by both bride and doc to put away my straights. The term, “stubborn old coot” was used by my oldest grandson when he learned that I had no intention to stop straight shaving.

What I’ve discovered is that I can now shave, post stroke, without the forearm weights. Whether it’s a matter of two years of muscle memory or the fact that I may have stroked out the source of my tremors. In any case, while I still have them; they’re quite minimal, and only seem to make themselves known in the evening when I’m tired. The two and a half pass mug shave this morning was a joy, and left my face porcelain smooth.

My dome shave featured my Ronson safety razor, which was subcontracted by the Ronson Lighter Co. and manufactured by the American Safety Razor Company around 1931. While a bit top heavy, the safety razor can accommodate a modified DE (similar to the Gibbs mod) or an injector blade, which is my preference. This safety razor has pride of Place (pun) for my friend David. It’s a remarkably competent little shaver that delivered its usual superb noggin shave leaving yours truly velveteen smooth from the shoulders up!

RAZOR: Dovo Special (Mug), Ronson Safety Razor
BLADE: Schick Injector II Twinblade (Dome)
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a heavy scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: MrEE LE #005 Aluminum Handled SynBad Knot
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Lilac Vegetal AS Splash.

I hadn't thought about that being possible but of course you're correct in that. I have to imagine that's a great shave. I have been looking for their 2.0 secondhand and have backed their upcoming Pro model. Do you have to insert a twin by taking the guard off or will it slide in with it on?

Same here. I haven't bought anything for a few weeks which is a good trend. I have enough stuff that I don't need to buy anything in the short term except for software, which I have bought very little of so far. I'll need soap and aftershave at some point.

I don't know although I guess I should. I'll ask. Whichever one it is, there's no odor and I would consider it fairly soft from the start.

I like the setup Jeff! Evan's brush is a looker and a great lathered. I also have a sentimental feeling with my Dovo Special because it was my very first traditional straight razor. Great shave and have a wonderful Wednesday!

Eric, I wasn’t trying to enable, just sharing my thoughts. The Type G, L and later are all fine shavers. @Trigger and I are fans of the Type E.

    Good Hump-Day morning :). Here's Wednesday's report:

    Good News:

-Shave soap/cream went on nice and thick
    -0;45 at loading dock.
-Left cheek&sideburns all clear with one swipe.
    -2 passes.
    Nice work at Porcupine Alley
-Cactus Nation not as good, but OK.
-Cold-water rinse at end helped control 4 painless Knicks

    Bad news:
    -4 painless Knicks(see above)
-some astroturf left on the right cheek(but killed with the "do-over").

    FINAL COMMENTS:

-Rocky Mtn, Barber was meant for warmer weather, I believe. You get the nice cool scent and feel of the Rockies. Not comfortable in winter.
-This closes out the Clubman/Rocky Mtn. duo until next time.
-Due to the appearance of the 4 painless Knicks-PRETTY EXCELLENT.

Eric, one just loosens the attachment screw on whatever plate one is using in the Supply head a bit, and then load the blade directly from the magazine. I’m a fan of the three dot plate. The V2 Supply is one of the best noggin shavers in my den. I really like the Twinblade in my Supply. I considered backing the new Supply injector, but really don’t need any more safety razors. In fact, I’m looking to eliminate many that I just don’t use.
