  6. I checked with him and he confirmed it is an Omega knot. He shared this page with me which explains how he harvests the knots. Good to know. I guess it means I know I'd enjoy an Omega boar brush.
  7. January Injector Focus Shave #5

This was the shave I was dreading. Two prior uses of this razor were very uncomfortable, unpleasant, and bloody. @SRQShaver you said the M is your favorite, so that fortified my will to give this one a try. I could not figure out where to lay the blame on my prior use: bad razor or poor blade. This evening I figured out where the problem truly lay: my technique. The first 4 shaves of this month were excellent because I got the angle correct and utilized the angle of the head. I tend to favor a steeper angle. The steep angle combined with opening the M up to 7 was a perfect storm for a horrible shave.

Tonight was a much better use of the M. Setting 5, a light touch, and the proper angle resulted in a DFS. There were two very small weepers in the chin area and slight irritation, but a satisfactory result.

  8. Glad to see you are improving on your technique Eric. It's always good to start with a shallow angle because it is easier on your skin. You can always adjust the angle if the razor isn't cutting and that is assuming that the blade isn't spent. Btw, great setup and pic as well.

  9. The Type M is one of my favorite injector razors! But I haven't tried it higher than 6, because I am a chicken!

  11. Well Howdy @MaineYooper ! I am working chronologically through a few injectors this month. So far my favorite is a toss up between G&J. I think you will recognize the Parker that is on deck for next week :)
  12. Hello guys! I need to get over to this neighborhood more often!

I should join in, if not too late. Is January injector focus, or is it a few folks' focus? I have a Type J that I never used much as I was doing so well with my G, H, and M types. I will check the first post of the thread!
  13. Well let me direct you to the very first post of this month and it will explain the basis for this thread. Btw, it's never too late to join in the fun.
  14. sorry about that LOL just force of habit to say sir.

  17. Angle is key with any injector! Congratulations, Eric! Glad to hear you figured out what works for you with that safety razor. Lightness of touch is also key. Until I started straight shaving again, about two years ago, that part of the process never registered for me. Great news! Enjoy your shaves!

  20. Another great shave, Barry! We both seem to have Preshave rituals that work for us. Preshave is key for me, and always guarantees a good close shave! It’s all about softening up those whiskers for me! As a straight shaver, that’s key for me! Enjoy your day, my friend!
