So pleased with the lather in the Trotter Handcrafts Quasar with a mixed badger/boar knot that I forgot the razor! It was the Type J again. And I am in agreement with Eric @ewk that the Type J is one smooth and efficient razor. Blade is a Japanese Schick. Ethos Clean for the soap. 01_07 sotd.jpg

This morning's shave was quite good. It had to be so I could feel my best driving through a driving snowstorm (why do they call it that) so as to get my Covid booster. 0:45, then 0:10 to load the Stoylin(Sheep)onto the Stoylin(No-name brush). All went smooth. I say "all"....that nutty ingrown hair area could grow a little more if I don't watch out. No cuts/Knicks, thanks to the skin-food power of Bill Neumann A.S. For you newbies, it is officially Wm. Neumann&Co., but I like to play around with names. Actually, the joke's on me-there really IS a Bill Neumann-Wm.'s grandson. Interesting family history there. I'll give this one a Super Duper Excellent.

Great shave, Eric! Glad the new Supply blades are working well for you. I thought I’d cancelled my pledge for the new Supply Pro Adjustable. Turns out I hadn’t. I’ll be getting a pack of those new blades with the razor whenever it arrives in February. I really enjoy injector shaves as well. Great summary and photo! Enjoy your shaves!

Hey, I like it, Gary! I wasn’t aware you had an original gold version like me. You told me they weren’t all that common. Well, great shave kit and photos!

Fabulous injector shave and commentary, Eric! We are fortunate to have both of you on the thread! I j have the Parker Adjustable as well, as I think I shared in an earlier post. I also shave it wide open. It’s a good shaver!

Thanks, Joe! The reps are well-deserved! Jim Roe’s brushes are great performers! I believe JoeC has the most, but in addition to his brushes I also have a straight razor and a 15 safety razor stand he’s built for me! Jim and I share a birth year.

Great shave kit, Joe, as usual! Hey, would you have pics of that last restoration? I remember seeing early on some of your blade work. Enjoy your shaves!

I knew about the stand, but I didn't know Jim made a straight razor. However, I may have misunderstood your post and that you implied that he made scales on one of your razors.

No, he made a wood stand for a single straight razor and a second stand for 15 safety razors.

Excellent shave Eric. I had not been aware of the “J” until you three “ERICS” have begun discussing it. I have the Schick “G” and the PAA “L”.
The mug in your picture is it ceramic or some unbreakable composite? Do you use it for hot water or iced water shaves?
I use my brush scuttle for iced water shaves an love the chill on my face.

I have a wood stand made by Jim Roe for the straight as well. I have used it in a few of the recent pictures of the SOTD.

Here is the A. Witte Solace that I just finished the sanding and polishing process for the blade. Next up will be to make some scales for it if I do not choose to use the existing scales. If I make the scales I have a couple of kirinite blanks or I may make some micarta blanks myself.

Once that is done then I will attempt the honing process.

All part of the learning process.

Below is a picture of some addition raw razors that I pick up on the Bay. This should keep me busy for a while.
