I would not know because I have never tried MWF.

Great shave with your meat cleaver, Joe! Better you than me, my friend.

Now that sounds like a great gesture! I’m gifting a Gold Monkey I’ve honed to perfection to a friend in North Carolina who’s been interested in straight shaving. I’m including a hanging strop I never used. Strictly a bench strop guy!

Lol! Thanks Jeff. I will just do two more shaves to get to 20 total shaves with Artie. It will be 8 consecutive shaves with it and of course, I have never done it before with it. Moving onward, I will either follow with Max or my Henckels Friodur. I am still not sure, but I still have time later this week to decide.

I have the extreme good fortune to try a razor on a passaround in another shave-borhood. I will have to take a detour from injectors this week. The H&S is an excellent razor with great efficiency and a very smooth feel.

Plain simple answer, because the bottom of the WS classic razor is flat...It's not a optical illusion or a party trick.

According to the profile it’s not a rattler.
That is not a Rattler grind. The profile is quite distinctive and looks like a ball sitting on top of the blade. See below a shot of mine.

    Focus Tritok Slant safety razor.
    Astra SP blade (2)
    Simpson T3 Trafalgar brush.
    Fine Accoutrements Snake Bite soap.
    Timeless shave bowl.
    Royal Copenhagen cologne.

Awesome shave this morning but boy is this a mild slant. It is definitely milder than the Concave.

We have a new convert to the wet shaving world. A friend at work was talking about how he wished he had a twist to open razor like his grandfather had and how expensive cartridge razors are now so I fixed him up with a 1960 Flare Tip and some Astra SPs. He shaved last night for the first time with it and said it was his best shave ever. I told him that it only gets better. I also told him to keep using his canned goo for a while and I would fix him up with a brush and soap. I did not want to throw to many variables at him at one time.

    Happy Monday everyone!

SE Shave # 235 -MICROMATIC & DARKFALL MONDAY

    Rating: 4.5 / 5

    Razor: GEM Micromatic Open Comb
    Blade: GEM Stainless
Brush: Whipped Dog Butterscotch 24 mm
    Lather: Declaration Grooming Darkfall
    Aftershave: Declaration Grooming Darkfall
    Osage Rub
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original

Today I decided it was time to replace the blade in this razor. As a result of the new blade, I did develop a few minor nicks and weepers on my neck and chin. See Paul, @Paul Turner, I do sometimes have an oops. It is part of the process. That being said, the closeness of this shave was nothing less that spectacular.

Three passes with the glorious lather of the DG Darkfall is my shave Nirvana. Here is the scent description for the DG website: “Darkfall is a spicy oriental designed to capture the spirit of fall in the rural south. Agarwood, amber, and benzoin provide a deep, warm base for the cinnamon and clove top notes. Birch tar adds a slight smokiness that represents the ever-present smell of burning leaves that heralds the arrival of fall in Georgia.” Tempting I know.

I hope you all have a great day gentlemen.

Real fine shave this morning with Razorock Gold soap, followed up by "PS" aftershave(for perfumer Paul Sebastian, who has a cologne with the same title). No misses(well, at least none that I didn't go over later in the shave), no cuts, no Knicks. The loading time was between 0:20 and 0:30...I was expecting to work the brush for 0:45 or so, but at 0:20-0:30 I just said "Hey, I have enough right now". I'd say the Clubman brush is similar to the Stoylin "li'l brudder". (I almost said "quite", but with some words you don't need "quite" or perhaps "almost".). How are they similar. Small, with knots that don't LOOK powerful, but they are just that. 2 healthy passes. Clean, fresh, and ready for Monday :). OUTTA THIS WORLD EXCELLENT.
