    Good morning gents!

    20220119_220422.jpg
    Straight razor shave #337
    7/8 Henckels Friodur
    Semogue OC Super Badger Brush
Shannon's Soaps The Warrior SS LE
    Stirling Bay Rum AS
    Maggard's Alum Block
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 40.5 hrs

I hardly use this soap because I don't have a matching scent. It lathers quite easily and provides great slickness. I decided to go real good wet today, but not so good that the lather runs down my face. The scent is powdery and pleasant. The only downside with Shannon's is that they don't produce aftershaves. However, the scuttlebutt is that they will make them this year.

The Semogue brush is pretty soft, but it does have some scratches. In the beginning, I had a hard time lathering my face with it because it was such a lather hog. It took me a long time to dial this baby where I enjoy using it. Anyway, it gave me the lather that I needed to get a great shave.
Alas, this is the fifth and final shave this month with the Friodur. This razor really knocks my socks off. It just mowed down my 40 hr stubble like a 270 lb linebacker hitting a 180 lb quarterback. It was sheer magic. Two passes without pickups or errors gave me a fantastic shave. I will have to bring it out more often because it just gives a remarkable shave.

The postshave was great! The alum treatment was stinging on my right side but nothing too crazy. The witch hazel did it job as far as the soothing of my skin. Finally, applied the Stirling Bay Rum Aftershave and there wasn't any burning effect.

My next large straight will be my 15/16 Wostenholm near wedge. I am looking to do a few shaves with it. In the meantime, I am off to the gym this morning. Have a great day gentlemen!

  6. Great lineup and shave Joe. I am off to the gym despite the winter weather. It's only 59 days until Spring. Enjoy the day!
  7. That is too bad. And especially if it is a razor you want to like. As Joe said, it could be blade, angle, pressure, or it could be a not great specimen of the Type M, maybe dropped too much in its past and is now a little bent. I had two Slims once, and one shaved more aggressively (aggressive here meaning harsh feeling) than the other. I thought it was me. But there are other possibilities! Type Ms seem to be plentiful on the 'Bay right now, and on Etsy. Maybe, if price and your inclination line up, give another a try. Or move on, Don't look back, Jump on the bus, Gus... etc

  8. Nice shave Paul. You need witch hazel to take care of it.
  9. Any drug store, right? Or how about that styptic pencil you talked about earlier?
  10. I have tried the 7 o'clock green blades, but not the others. I have enough blades to last me three years (100 blades). When my supply has dwindled, then I will look into them if they are still available.
  11. Usually a drug store or a store like Walmarts or a large supermarket will stock it in the skin care section.
  12. OK, thanks.
  13. I purchased the G, J, and M as a lot from a seller who also included the Personna 74 tungsten blades. I have no sentimental attachment to any of them. Style-wise the G & J are far above the M, so I am quite satisfied with them.

The Parker is on deck for this evening's shave. Now *that* one carries an emotional attachment ;)

  17. Thanks Jeff! I just returned from the gym. I did 2 sets of 15 minutes on the rowing machine. I rested for 10 minutes before continuing the 2nd set The 2nd set was done at a much slower pace. Don't worry, I am not tall enough to be an efficient rower. Lol.

  18. Thank you Jeff....overall I'd say it was that. The speedbump at North Porcupine continues to be a problem, but it isn't going to force me to grow a mustache just to avoid it. Joe The Chemistry Profesor suggested witch hazel, which I'll have in my next shave set (Stoylin), but my local CVS also has a Clubman styptic pencil.
  19. Ya want us to rest 10 minutes between shave passes?(chuck yuk yuk yuk)
  20. Vib'Raz on working Stahly handle. Kai blade. Nah. Comfortable but not effective enough for me.[IMG]
