there is no mention of the red tip rocket or gold presentation set which were 1959 items..

Red Tip Rocket wouldn't be until 1961, the No 68 set referred to all 3 styles of British Super Speeds. The presentation set may not have been price reduced hence it not being on the pricing list.

The more pertinent question for you anyways is were the light, medium and heavy sets from 1961 onwards with the rocket style tto knobs a continuation of the no 68 set or were they a whole new set number.

As of this posting I personally do not know that answer. If I get motivated I'll do some digging on it.

So regarding the No. 58, Achim's photo is marked "only the doors and center bar were nickel plated". So does that mean the handle was Rhodium plated, or possibly chrome?

nickel plated ,no rhodium on #58 sets.

So then is the Handle Aluminum? At any rate the one I have for display was replated in Rhodium, so that one is. Also 68 Grams, patent pending no patent number, but red ring on the base of the handle in the case, so perhaps a mismatch case?

the aluminum one was the earliest version.1953-4 .came mostly in brit coronation sets.brass/nickel ones were available maybe as well.mine is an early brass nickel set from Australia.made in England, advertised in Australia as an Aristocrat Jr. set.no loop in case.

Alright. Who can tell me about this guy? This is apparently a No. 117 set, with a No. 58 handle, with what appears to be an Aristocrat Jr. or Aristocrat head.

Never seen one of these before.

Hello, it started with wrecked Gen3 then a No58 wreck popped up. Finally I found a No59 case from which I needed the springs, but on closer inspection I found the pattern of the case awesome, so saved it.

Here is one I recently bought that is almost, sort of comprehensive.

The blades are dated S4 which is 4th quarter of 1947 so they are correct, everything is there except for the box cover so no way to say definitively if this was sold as an Aristocrat Junior or Super Speed.

This is on line listed as an aristocrat junior, did they make them adjustable?

To me it looks like a slim in the wrong case.

    Thoughts?
