January Injector Focus Shave #14 Razor: Schick J Blade: sChick (7) Brush: Yaqi badger Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat A/S: Aqua Velva (CVS Blade) After using the Sheep last night and claiming I preferred MWF, I had to follow up with the Fat. I was wrong. It's a tie. Same with the G & J razors; its a tie. Tonight's shave was smooth and efficient.
Very good shave this morning with the changes from yesterday. The Stoylin Pro-Handle brush really scooped up the shaving cream in fine fashion. I got all "bases"(face&neck)covered. Time to lose some whiskers! The only glitch was down at North Cactus Nation. It was weird, I just placed the razor down-very little pressure, it appeared- and felt an immediate stab of pain. I was afraid it was a cut-too painful to be a Knick. But nothing too bad happened. I'll call it an escape from "further" danger. Otherwise, nicely done at Cactus. I was very careful at NW Porcupine (under left nostril) and it paid off-no issues. I'd say the Russian Leather is strong enough to equal Midnight Stag, but Stag is Russian on steroids. I'm glad to have my second Russian Leather from TSD, though. Super Duper Excellent.
Jan 26 SOTD Good Morning! Straight Razor Shave #341 15/16 Wostenholm MrEE LE Cashmere Brush #10 Stirling Spice SS and AS Maggard's Alum Block Dickinson's Witch Hazel Beard Growth: 38 hrs It's another cold, crisp morning on LI and we are bracing for a northeaster this weekend with possible heavy snowfall. Anyway, I brought out this beautiful brush made by Evan @MrEE and it always whips up a great lather. I had enough for at least 4 passes. Did 2 passes (WTG and ATG) with a touchup on both sides of the neck. I achieved an error-free and very close, comfortable shave. I had very little feedback from the alum that affirmed the quality of my shave. Finished with the witch hazel and the matching aftershave. It's another wonderful shave in the books for me. This is my fourth and final shave with this razor for the month. I want to end Jumbo January with Max for my final shaves for this month. Have a great day guys!
Finally it has arrived! The new strop from Razor Emporium. It’s a Horsehide/ Canvas strop 3”. To the left the one I bought here in Sweden that is just 2 1/3” more suitable for pocket knives. To the right the Linen strop that I bought from LMDesignStyle in Latvia that I have to make hinge and handle for it. Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
SE Shave # 236 Rating: 5 / 5 Razor: Shick - Injector Type J Blade: Persona Injector Brush: Jack Skully Lather: PAA Boomtown Bay Rum Aftershave: PAA Boomtown Bay Rum Additional Care: Stirling Alum Block Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original I had a very nice shave with the new to the den Type J injector. I am not sure if I prefer the Type G over this razor. I may have to do a comparison shave with the G tomorrow. I did my usual three pass shave. The razor had a new Persona blade. The shave was close, however, I felt I needed to do a little buffing. Perhaps this is due to the learning curve for the nuances of this razor. The alum report was relatively silent. My face feels smooth and refreshed with the scent of Bay Rum, Leather and Gunpowder. I hope you all have a great day gentlemen.
Thanks Joe, the days with nib’s and cuts in the strop are passed . It will last forever I guess. Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
