  2. Thanks Charlie..it really was. For sophisticated foam I'm going all the way with Edge now (aaah, all right, Edge is a gel), until I see Rise Superfoam making a comeback.

    Greetings,

A new shave set up to start the weekend...Maiden shave with the Schick Type G SE injector razor which was kindly PIF’d to me by @jgreenepa along with a fresh magazine of Personna PTFE SS injector blades & a Gem Featherweight & a few Ted Pella PTFE SS Gem blades...Thanks to Jeff i now have the great opportunity to venture and experience the wonderful world of vintage SE Injector Razors.

I shall be using the Schick Injector with all my Shave's throughout the week to adjust and familiarize myself with the razor.

My first impression and appearance of the Schick injector was the excellent condition of it. I really liked the design and the feel of the razor...After applying the lather to my face i started to shave using short strokes adding minimal pressure using the weight of the razor....I found my shaving angle which feels quite natural i instantly felt comfortable and at ease with the Schick the first few strokes....The audio feedback you get from it makes the razor sound more aggressive than it actually is.

What is noticeable with the Schick injector, is the blade feel, which is rigid. Feeling completely different and much more noticeable than i get from when I'm shaving with a DE blade...This is probably down to the thickness of the injector blade, which i personally don't mind making the shaving experience feel safe comfortable, and smooth with no blade chatter. Another indication that tells me that the Injector razor design is solidly built to hold the blade firmly in the razor head with no movement.

After i had done the combined (xtg/atg) pass my face was very near BBS...For the sheer pleasure of using the razor i carried on with the pick up pass and to use up the remaining lather.

Wow! I''m instantly swooned by this remarkable vintage razor....My shave this morning was one of most comfortable near 'BBS' shave's that i have had from any vintage razor i have used to date. Absolutely fantastic! A wonderful addition to my humble vintage SE razor collection...Thanks again Jeff, your a true gentleman.

A very enjoyable close comfortable smooth near BBS 2 pass + pick ups Injector razor shave with no errors to report...Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Nivea Men Fresh Moisturising Gel.

My face is feeling silky smooth & smelling divine.;)

Stay safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend ladies & gentlemen.

  8. Great writeup. Glad you had a good first run. Based on comfort and performance of the injector razor it is not hard to see why injector blades are still being manufactured today. As far as I know, only Parker is making a modern injector. Shane at Blackland expressed in an interview his fascination with injectors but does not have a plan to design one yet. I think there is promise for injectors among artisan makers. Handle design options are limitless, and I would guess injector heads are much cheaper to produce than DE.
  9. Fabulous shave, Paul!
  10. Fabulous Slim shave with accompanying photos, Gary! That Slim looks to be in good shape.

  11. Great shave Barry! Jeff is a very generous guy. I have the Schick E3 Injector and it gives a very close shave so I understand how you feel shaving with yours. I wish you many great shaves with it Have a great day!
  12. I’m really glad you’re enjoying the razor, my limey friend! I noticed the absence of injector shaves over the last few months of enjoying your shave pics and commentary both here and on the other site we both post on. I have an unnecessarily large razor collection, many of which I no longer use. I have sent out many PIFs over the last few weeks, mostly on FB. I helped a friend there through his first straight razor shave after PIFing him my Gold Monkey 666 5/8 straight razor. He’d been an accomplished Weck Sextoblade shaver. So the transition for him was quite natural. In your case Barry, I had a perfectly good Type G Injector and Gem Featherweight sitting around and not being used. I know you’ll use them and enjoy them with no real issues, being the accomplished wet shaver you are. Shave on my friend!

  14. Eric, don’t forget the modern Supply Injector that comes with three plates. The newest Supply V3 razor is coming out with what they claim is a nick-free design. I supported their Kickstarter and am awaiting the arrival of their new Supply Pro Adjustable.

  15. Great Type G shave, Joe. Having shaved with every injector from the Type A through the Type L, I think it’s fair to say that the non- adjustable Schick injectors become progressively less efficient with each succeeding model. I think that’s why both the Pal and Schick adjustables were released to allow those who appreciated the efficiency of the earlier models to recapture it. Of all the vintage Schick injectors I’ve shaved with my personal preference is the Type E. Many found this model to be too aggressive and the head was redesigned on the G to make it a bit less aggressive. Honestly, I don’t find there to be much of a difference. Enjoy your shaves!

  16. Thanks, Hans, many of us are experiencing a bomb cyclone snowstorm which is slated to dump more than two feet on parts of New England, New York and New Jersey. Or as you might say, just another typical snow day in Sweden! ;)
  17. Ah, yes. I forgot about Supply.

  18. Absolutely lovely shave, Jeff! I finally scored a Durham Enders Speedshaver in the condition I like. I will probably need your sage guidance on your hack. The seller is including a speed shaver blade. I don’t know if the edge has been removed. How much of the edge do you recommend being removed? Thanks, and when it warms up, you have an open invitation to Greene Acres if you ever get out Philly way.

  19. :signs001: Jeff...Your "having unnecessary razors that you no longer use " statement is something i can totally relate to. I made a decision 2 years ago to have a ruthless den clean out on various razors & blades that i had ridiculously accumulated through "RAD impulsive buying bouts" that i passed on to various friends, what was left went in the bin!...Which made me feel a lot better, and realized having too much of something isn't always a good thing, you don't have enough time to appreciate or use it.....Now i appreciate all my razors both DE & SE non of them are 'Shelf Queen's'...I now only purchase something if i really need it, or treat myself every so often...As a treat to myself today i placed an order for a magazine of 20 Personna PTFE SS injector blades from Connaught Shaving UK...which will keep me going for quite sometime....yours-Barry the green tea drinking limey!
