Now...let's get to the first shave with the new hype razor. Does it live up to expectations?
In my case, I can definitely answer that with a big fat "YES".
Since the razor arrived, I could hardly wait to shave, the first very positive reports made me only more curious about it.
So, after getting up around 9:30 clock, comfortably drank a coffee and meanwhile already all shaving things draped in the bathroom, so that it can start directly after the morning coffee. Coffee was empty, the "farewell" of the wife for the next hour was pending.
Off to the bathroom, washed face with warm water and softened the stubble. Opened the soap can and circled with the brush for a good 20 seconds on the soap. Lather in rough quantities and in addition this fresh, citrus scent. Processed the foam in the face to a yogurt type lather. Now the razor laughs at me. The blade is completely new to me and my thoughts are if it might not have been better to use a blade you know...nope!!!! New razor with new blade is always good for a surprise. In this case a positive one... So, blade unpacked and into the razor. The first strokes...wow...he's thorough. Always carefully further, because you can still feel the blade. The angle finds itself. The first pass completed. Again wow...there is not much left. Definitely on R41 / Blackland Blackbird level as far as thoroughness is concerned. Maybe a touch smoother. A razor for newbies? Maybe not necessarily...A razor for every day? At least not for me if I could shave every day. For the second pass then changed the handle. The original is too long for me. iKon Bulldog on it. Much better and more comfortable.
After the second pass I could have stopped. Great. But since I wanted to test the razor also against the growth, pass Nr.3. It takes no prisoners...gentle but demanding and direct. No tazor for the half asleep or the "I have no time" shave. The blade is a great match for the plane. Very sharp and also gentle. It will be tested further.
So now the aftershave...Dapper Dan Green...ALPA. I'm anticipating a burn.... A good swig in my hand and then off to my face with it. What a dreamy scent. A mixture of Brut and Mennen Skin Bracer. In addition, immediately the cold by the menthol. Burning? What is that? I am mega surprised...
So what remains as a conclusion after 3 wonderful passes? Do I like the razor? NO!!! I LOVE it!!! For the price, it's an absolute blast. Even though I don't think it can do any better e.g. with a Polsilver or a GBE, but that's to be tested. The Greencult shaves sufficiently gently and is extremely thorough. In terms of sustainability, it remains to be seen, but I am smooth as glass and completely irritation-free. Now I enjoy the shave again in spirit and am caressed by the enchanting scent of the aftershave. A great start to the day. A relaxing Sunday to you all.
Stay safe and healthy my friends.
Greetings
Thorsten
