I have the Persona injector blades. I will look forward to you feedback. I have considered trying the Schick Proline P - 20 but now I may have to add the Pella to the thought process as well. I will continue to watch you progress.

Lol! Thanks. I have to say that I was in between 2 cars so that I was able to brace my self with my hand on one of them. If this was 6 years ago, I probably would have fell and hurt myself. It clearly showed me the importance of exercise, especially at our age.

That's a wonderful collection. I've carried a pocket knife most of my life. Having grown up on a farm, it was an everyday necessity. Unfortunately, most of them were either lost, stolen, or given away. I have a few basic ones now and have resisted collecting them as a hobby. I have enough to keep up with in the shaving arena.

I'm always happy to see someone using and enjoying GEM razors. Nice one!

SOTD SUNDAY MORNING, FEBRUARY 6, 2022

There are a bunch of Aquarians in my family - my wife, me, my oldest son and his wife. In addition to the Iwasaki 33, they’re bringing in a private chef tonight to make a shared meal of my favorite beefsteak preparation, Steak Oscar - a bone-in ribeye finished with lump crabmeat and asparagus in a hollandaise sauce for my birthday. I’m really looking forward to dinner. I don’t plan on eating anything after breakfast! It’s a bit much, but I do appreciate the sentiment, and instead of grousing as I normally would at the expense, I accepted graciously.

This morning’s mug shave featured the Dubl Duck Goldedge 11/16. Charles Bresnick started a company in Manhattan well before WW2 that imported and relabeled razors from Solingen, Germany. The initial brands were Dubl Duck, then Bresduck, and after the War, with new ownership they became Pearlduck. People argue about the differences between the Wonderedge, the Satinedge and the Goldedge. Not an issue for me! My Goldedge always delivers a great shave as it did this morning in the usual two and a half passes leaving me wonderfully smooth.

Colonial Razor of Birdsboro, Pa. has always flown under the radar, and represents a true labor of love for the Evans brothers. Kirk, since starting the company with his twin brother, Kyle several years ago, has become a devoted straight shaver with his own YT channel, “The Cutting Edge”. His brother Kyle is the very talented designer who has produced, here in the US, two remarkable, very well-received SS safety razor designs, the Colonial General, an AC safety razor design, the Colonial Silversmith DE, and is currently finishing a third DE design in aluminum as I write.

The Silversmith head design is incredibly efficient and always delivers a very close shave as most owners will tell you. In all honesty, I was not a fan of the initial Silversmith handle design, but jumped on the revised design seen in today’s pic. This little DE with the redesigned handle has great heft in hand and is extremely well-balanced. Its generous sweet spot made it a real hit with owners. Shaving with this little razor’s a pleasure, and this morning my noggin appreciated it. Two ATG passes and I was left velveteen smooth from noggin to neck and ready for my dinner this evening!

RAZOR: Dubl Duck Goldedge 11/16 (Mug), Colonial Silversmith (Dome)
    BLADE: Kai DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a heavy scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: MrEE LE #007 Knurled Aluminum Handle Hybrid Knot
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys WH. Finished with Old Spice Fresh Lime (Indian Version) and Cremo Cooling Post Shave Balm.
