Thank you Barry. My goal is to illustrate that open blade razors are not to be feared as long as you have the proper technique. Really, that's true with any sharp tool such as knives, chainsaws, etc. I am not denying that the learning curve is more difficult as compared to a safety razor, but it is quite an experience once you do so. I first learned on a shavette and for me it was the right way to go because it taught me how to use a soft approach. Anyway, thanks for your input and glad that you enjoyed the video.

Happy Sunday gentlemen. Early morning rise to do my X3Bar Pull workout, shower and phenomenal shave prior to heading to Church this morning with the family.

The TI, my first straight, continues to mow down the whiskers with ease. I did my usual three pass shave and was rewarded with a close and comfortable face feel. No irritation to speak of which is a major positive any time you take a sharp blade to your face.

I had begun to see the bottom of the tub of the Gredos soap. Sir Edmund Fitzgerald is not to far behind. His arrival will be either by the end of the month or the first week in March.

I hope you have an enjoyable rest of your Sunday gentlemen.

Thanks for the video Joe. I picked up the WCS version of that shavette a year ago for moustache definition. Could never use it without drawing weepers; never used it for a complete shave. Watching your video had me as tense and anxious as if watching a Stanley Kubrik or Stephen King movie. You executed perfectly! I do not think I will attempt to shave with that shavette, but you are giving me the confidence to commit to the Feather DX, likely for March.

Excellent shave Jeff. Whether you believe you upcoming dinner is a bit much, you don’t turn 3/4 of a century everyday. I am sure the celebration is well deserved. Enjoy the time with your family. Once again, Happy Birthday Weekend.

I thin you meant cold instead of “called” in your second sentence. Great shave today and video of Feb 4th shave Joe.

Thanks and I am glad you enjoyed the video Eric. It takes time to develop mastery in shaving with an open blade razor. Look at Jeff @jgreenepa, he hurt himself when he first used a straight and found out he had Parkinsons. He had a brilliant solution to use weights on his arms to lessen/and or stop tremors so that he can use a straight effectively. He's honing, stropping, shaving and enjoying his shaves more than ever before. You will get there. Take care.

Yes, I will change it. These auto fill features such. It even chopped your word think to thin, unless you meant to do a Ricky Ricardo impersonation. Lol! Thanks Joe. I will fix it.

I held back on those "blue gel" creams because they seemed to overpower the aftershave scents. Edge isn't as bad. I bet I was experiencing that feeling with Nivea and Gillette gels.

Eric, if you’re going to try the Feather DX, one of my two favorite replaceable blade barber’s razors I strongly suggest that you get the Feather Softguard AC blades. They protect against slices, the bane of the new open blade shaver, and are incredibly forgiving. I’ll be glad to provide any help or guidance I can. I shave with that razor and really enjoy it. If you become comfortable with it, a regular straight razor will not be a big deal.

    good day gents
after a fabulous 'crat shave yesterday there wasn't much to chop down.
so a 1 passer and touch up shave fit the bill.
this razor usually has the short handle but it got the vb1 handle today.
will stay on this razor,as it's my driver.
my perfect pristine brit vc3 set rests quietly in the display case
the vb1 handle added weight and vastly improved the balance
    fine shave indeed.
usual glorious lather with the club cola scent
    legend spirit to finish.

    awesome.
    have a fabulous sunday everyone
