  5. You would think. Her hand does not seem to glide as easily on a shaved dome. Perhaps she just does not like the feel of a skinnned head altogether.

    Parker SRX shavette
    Gillette Silver Blue (1)
Rudy Vey Chubby handle w/24 mm Shavemac Silvertip two-band bulb knot
    Stirling Executive Man
    Alum, witch hazel and USB

I enjoyed a nice and easy two-passer with the Parker SRX shavette this morning. It was reasonably close, comfortable, and no there was blood on the steel when I finished. I'll use the SRX once more and then return to my R41 for a few shaves. At my rate of soap usage, this puck of Stirling Executive Man should last though the end of March or thereabouts. I haven't checked to confirm, but I may have another puck in strategic inventory.

We're back from running errands, including the post office where I picked the knife roll my friend made for me. It's perfect for what I need. The net result of my recent knife focus has caused me to start shopping again. We'll see where that goes. Our friend also made a couple of small travel cases for my Bride.

We lost a friend due to complications from metastatic prostate cancer yesterday. He fought it for several years, and he was taken much too young. It's a stark reminder not to take life for granted and to keep up with routine medical checkups.

It's sunny and warm(er), so we plan to get outside a bit this afternoon. I hope you all are having a nice start to the week.

    Grace and Peace.
  7. Very sorry for the loss of your dear friend. Thank you for sharing your grief. Grace and peace indeed.

  8. I was wondering when you were going to shave with your Parker shavette Charlie. Excellent shave and setup. The knife roll looks well made. We are going to be in the 40's all week so it will be a nice respite from the blizzard and cold temps. Most of the snow is gone. Sorry about losing your friend Charlie.
  9. Thanks Joe. I appreciate the kind words regarding my friend. Great news regarding the break in winter weather on LI. It'll be spring before we know it.

I'm glad I learned how to use a shavette, but it's not my favorite way to shave. I admire daily open edge shavers like you, @JACarbone, @jgreenepa and @Bama Samurai. It requires consistency and technique mastery for sure. Plus you four are just plain cool.

My friend is quite the seamstress. She and several friends sell their crafts in a small shop on Cortes Island. She primarily makes zipper bags, purses, place mats, etc. (She's a master baker/chef/desert maker as well. She told us recently that she hasn't purchased a loaf of bread in 20 years as she bakes all her own.) Her friend is a potter, and she made my brush soaking mug. It's cool to have handmade things that you use every day. I'll always remember where the knife roll came from. I may need a second one if I keep shopping. :)

  10. Thanks Charlie. I enjoy wetshaving because of the different soaps, aftershaves, etc. Also, many years ago I sustained nerve damage on my left hand becausec I cut the wrist going through plate glass. I am glad that I am a right. Anyway, straight shaving forced me to use my left hand and it was like physical therapy because I got more feeling and motor control in my fingers. I would say that I am 85 percent healed and I am fine with it. Anyway, it seems like you found another rabbit hole. Lol
  11. Very nice knife roll, Charlie! Unfortunately, as we accumulate more solar rotations, we also accumulate more losses! Sorry for your loss!
  12. cool knife roll Charlie.my condolences.

  19. Much better shave this morning than that of yesterday. No cuts, no Knicks. Fine job along both cheeks&sideburns, although it's clear the right cheek asks for more attention. ., good work on both ends of Porcupine Alley. Same along Cactus Nation. 2 healthy passes. This time the Stoylin Sheep did better for me than yesterday. Perhaps due to working in concert with another Stoylin-the brush. I used a little less of the Bill Neumann Heartwood A.S., but still enough to be presentable. Outta This World Excellennt- a huge junp from yesterday's A Little Bit Excellent score.
