Some unscented soaps have no smell at all, or just a "soapy" smell. The Southern Witchcrafts soap base does have a distinctive smell, I'm guessing it comes from the shea butter. I got some plain shea butter once, and the aroma was similar to this. It's not unpleasant or strong, it is a natural organic veggie kind of smell. But there is a mild smell.

Thank you Mike. The one I shaved with today (Carpathia) is the strongest form the four I've tried so far. I'll likely purchase Incorporeal for those days where I prefer an unscented soap.

Maybe I'll do better for tomorrow's(Tuesday)shave, because the

    Brush-Stoylin "No-Name" Synth

will be different, otherwise all else is same as today. You'd like to think a Stoylin brush working with a Stoylin soap should be great. I sure can use a break after this morning's nonsense of a shave,.

Pre-shave: Van Der Hagen Shave Butter
Lather: Declaration Grooming "Fake Yellow Light"
    Brush: Jayaruh 347 Boar Bristle
    Razor: Henson Razors AL13 Medium
    Blade: Tatra Platinum (5)
Post-shave: Omega Alum Stick and Nivea Sensitive Balm

    SOTD_2022-02-08.jpg

This was my first shave with a Henson. I went with the medium, assuming that the mild was too mild for my taste. I found this to be mild as well although it was efficient enough to provide a good shave. The Tatra blade is well worn in now and continues providing excellent shaves.

This is my first use of a Declaration Grooming product and, while I definitely liked it, I found "Fake Yellow Light" to be very similar to Stirling "Gentleman" in both fragrance and performance, and am not sure I know what paying over double the price per ounce gets me. That's not meant as an admonishment of Declaration Grooming, more of a personal value call.

The shave was uneventful, dare I say boring. It's an hour or so later and I have a 9.5/10 BBS shave so it's nothing to sniff at but it was almost too easy if that makes sense. I can see this easily being an everyday razor that wouldn't cause irritation and would be easy to use drinking coffee and shaving with one eye open early in the morning.

    Razor: Firmblade vs Kenyon
Blade: Half a Shark SS vs Injector

I bring you the Firm Blade with half a Shark SS Blade. It looks intimidating and the curved blade had me wondering as I'm sure others would. Is this for ladies armpits or guys shaving. Well if you check the Waits Compendium it will tell you it's a just a razor design basically. Waits is wrong sometimes so checking the Patent US2421205 of 1947 you find that it doesn't distinguish what gender it was made for but does layout the reasoning for the design and their goals. Feel free to read if you want but it wasn't designed specifically for women.
    pSaABLk.jpg
So snapping a DE blade in half and some snipping with some scissors gets a blade sat where it was designed to be.
    IMG_20220208_063712192_HDR.jpg
How's the shave ? VERY.................mild and barely cutting whiskers even with added pressure, but it did clip some as seen in the photo. It was leaving tone of lather behind on a stroke which is a clear indication of none successful shaving strokes.
    IMG_20220208_064235377.jpg
This necessitated calling in the Kenyon for pass 2 and 3 to get a quality shave. Some more research and playing with a way to get the blade secured more forward for some cutting will be played with. I'm off for some coffee and homemade Apricot Cinnamon Pecan Biscotti....... Have a stellar day folks !!

I have a bunch of samplers to try from Southern Witchcrafts so I'm starting with: Carpathia.
I estimate I can get four shaves out of each sampler. This is my second shave. The strongest note to me is the evergreen. I really like it and wouldn't mind a full size puck in my den.
Lather, glide, and cushioning are all excellent!

Carpathia is a tribute to Bram Stoker’s Dracula: a dark and brooding masculine scent centered around accords of black tea, exotic musk, and evergreen balsam.
Please refer to the following for more details on this soap:
    https://southernwitchcrafts.com/product/carpathia-vegan-shave-soap/

    Brush: Simpson T3 Trafalgar
    Bowl: Captain's Choice Copper Bowl
    Pre shave: None
    Lather: Southern Witchcrafts Carpathia
    Razor: Henson AL13 Mild
    Face WTG-XTG-ATG
    Head WTG:XTG-ATG
    Blade: Feather HI Stainless (3)
    Razor: Gillette Styler
    Post: Omega Alum Block
    Post: Thayers Witch Hazel
    Lotion: None
    Balm: Southern Witchcrafts Carpathia

    Have a great day!!

    Tuesday morning’s Grand Freeze:

    Stirling Mentholated Pre Shave Soap
    Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
    Super Speed/Gillette Platinum day 7
    Stirling Glacial Strawberry Lemonade SS
    Prep ASB
Stirling Glacial Strawberry Lemonade AS Splash

This Strawberry Lemonade is one of the newest Glacial scents and IMHO it’s magnificent - wow, Rod really nailed it big time. The soap has such awesome lather, the tallow formula gives it such fantastic slickness, the menthol sensation is killer cold, and the skincare is numero uno. The Prep always delivers wonderfully on the postshave care, and the Glacial Strawberry Lemonade aftershave left me with a frozen face as well as its gorgeous scent. Smoother than silk from three glorious passes!

Enjoy your day and your shaves - be well and safe!

The Tabac Shave Soap lathered well with the Jayaruh #425 Synthetic Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Schick J Injector Razor with a Chinese Schick Injector Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Tabac AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
