SOTD TUESDAY MORNING, FEBRUARY 8, 2022

Just a tremendous shave all around today. I decided to work downwards again, albeit with a new-to-me Durham-Enders Speed Shaver. Removed the edge on an Enders blade to use as a shim, and fitted a Schick B-20 Proline blade in the razor. Great extremely close two pass ATG dome shave with no issues. I like this little one piece razor.

The mug shave with the Bartmann 86 11/16 was excellent. This razor has inspired an almost cultic following, and I understand why. The blade is comparable to my Filarmonica. With a blade that’s Flat as a pancake, like the Filarmonica, honing/retouching becomes effortless. Two and a half passes and yours truly was velveteen smooth from noggin to neck.

RAZOR: Bartmann 86 11/16 (Mug), Durham Enders Speed Shaver (Dome)
    BLADE: Schick Proline B-20
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a heavy scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: Rearden Razor 316L SS Tuxedo Synth
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by a rinse with Humphreys WH. Finished with Alt-Innsbruck AS Splash.

Wonderful Tuesday morning shave following an intense X3Bar Pull workout. The X3Bar workout involved 20 minutes, 5 exercises, under a 6 second time under tension (TUT) per rep until total failure. Whenever Joe, @Trigger, is ready to experience a totally different workout…game on brother. :happy088:
This morning’s shave is the continuation of the 1508.5 Project with the Gredos. The Skully brush easily whipped up a nice lather, on thinner variety which is fine for my straight razor shaves. Thicker lather works as well as I am easily adaptable. Three smooth and comfortable passes has myself ready for the day. Post alum report was minor to none existent. I think I will fit in some razor restoration work today as well. Ah, the life in the MOLC. :eatdrink013:
    Have a great day gentlemen.
  7. Wonderful shave Charlie. The knife rolls look well made. I am sure you will put them to good use. I am sorry for the loss of your friend.

  13. Another great Pella Blade shave, Barry! If you ever become interested in acquiring some, PM me. I know a source who sells them in smaller lots than 100, which is how Pella sells them.

  18. Joe's (@Trigger) shave video of the 4th prompted me to use my straight this morning.
    2_7 SR.jpg

The SR was for the first pass on flat surfaces (probably the only time my cheeks are called "flat"!). I tried the advice of scooping off the lather, and that seemed to be working well on the right side (dominant hand), so much so that I did my neck on that side as well!

But moving to the left said, it was very awkward. I tried switching to my left hand, but I knew immediately I'd end up in the emergency room! Overall, it went pretty well. Like Eric (@ewk), I am going to have to do a focus on this. Today was also different in that I had to get ready for a meeting. Up until today, I only pulled out the SR if I knew I had lots of time. So maybe I can try a pass on a workday. Or maybe a pass at night? Not sure what I'll do, but I want to try before giving up and saying safety razors are my thing. If that is the case, I am fine with that, but I want to be able to say I tried. A friend in Maryland who mostly shaves with straights and hones his own blades gifted me the Gold Dollar so I could try a straight. I don't want to give up without giving a true try with Ken's gift.
