Saturday’s mail call is from Maggard Razors. Today I got D.R. Harris Almond shave soap in wooden bowl as well as their Bay Rum aftershave.
A couple of packages arrived The aristrocrat has had very little to no use. I would have guess nos but obviously I’m missing original packaging and blade bank. ( I inserted the blade bank and instructions from period correct slim ) The gold popular was sent back under warranty to razor emporium for ugly plating and returned replated but not quite what i was hoping. You tell its been replated The nickel popular was sent to them as well and this was a basket case of a razor. They did well with it. I just the case i have for it was jusy as pretty. 5 lb. of various razor blades showed up on Thursday. I won these on a giveaway set up by a generous member over on B&B by guessing the closest number to actual blades without going over. My guess was 2112 (inspired by the album by RUSH). The actual number of blades was 2221. After sorting them out there are 35 different types of blades here and around 90% of those are new to me.
Thanks Gary. I know right, seemed like a bottomless box for a while lol. Trying to reduce the pile. Used a Gillette 7 o'clock green Permasharp for the first time today. It's a start...
Lots of good ones. Only a few that I haven’t tried. 7 O’clock greens have a loyal following. For me they’re a small step above the yellows.
Valentine’s Day mail call is from Murphy & McNeil; I got their Banzai soap and aftershave set with their synthetic menthol called Frost in it. The scent is orange blossoms with a very light musk fragrance.
I dont buy soaps usually. Although i have alot, i tend to get them through trading. But when a deal is thrown out there..one cant resist. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
While on vacation today I found these at an antique mall at a good price. Gem Contour Gillette Tech with plastic handle. This one came from a different antique mall and was in a display case with no price. The staff called the vendor and ask him his price. He said $5.00 and I jumped on it.....quick and I do mean quick. That is right guys........a Grand Shave King razor head. It was missing the handle and I was a little worried about the threads but it will tighten down on a handle. Does anyone have an original handle? Take care everyone.
