good morning gents.my arlington shave went well this morning.even got a couple of hours in with the cologne before getting ready for work.the new silvertip was a bit of a lather hog but i improvised.a few more uses and it will be just fine.the dr harris soap loaded quite easily without blooming and was quite slick.not the volume i am used to but i most likely didn't load enough or the brush absorbed some.post shave was to be expected with an older school soap being it wasn't as good as the artisan stuff we are used to.but that is what balms and stuff are for.either way, i know i can improve/dial in these products and am happy with the purchases.they cap off the brush and soap list..a higher end brit soap and dense silvertip were the last "need to try"items and they didn't break the bank.they will stay in the weekend/not working shave category for time being.we are truly spoiled gents..the golden age of shaving is the present...have a fine day everyone.

Awesome shave and post Gary! Badgers are notorious for being latherhogs. I was frustrated when I used my first badger brush which was my Semogue. I don't bowl lather so I load off the puck. The badger brush is slightly damp so I lightly swirl to get a decent amount of pasty soap. I wet the face and then paint the pasty lather on my face and neck without pushing the brush into my skin, otherwise the soap goes deep into the bristles and it won't be released. I wet the brush tips and lightly swirl the brush on my face and neck without smashing the brush. Wet the tips of the brush and repeat if necessary. I find that this method minimizes the latherhogging properties of the brush. Enjoy your day!

Feb 17 SOTN Good evening gentlemen! Shavette Shave #339 Dovo Shavette Feather Hi Stainless 1/2 DE Blade (1) JR #290 Cashmere Brush Arko SS Proraso Green AS Maggard's Alum Block Dickinson's Witch Hazel Beard Growth: 32.5 hr I just love shavette shaving with my Dovo. I haven’t used a 1/2 DE Blade with it in quite awhile because I like the long Personna Hairshaper blades. I figured that I would break out a fresh 1/2 Feather blade for tonight's shave. I have used Feather blades in my shavette and have gotten sliced once on my maiden try. Luckily, it wasn't deep and I do heal pretty well. So, shaving with a Feather 1/2 DE would be a slight challenge. To meet this challenge, I picked Arko because it is super slick. I needed a lather that would make my razor glide effortlessly so I wouldn't need any pressure to shave my bristles other than to move the Dovo. With a fresh Feather DE Blade, it's important to have a super slick lather or one may end up with cuts, nicks, weeps and irritation. Also, I wouldn't recommend using a Feather in a shavette until you have 200 shavette shaves under your belt. Anyway, I did a WTG and an ATG pass without any blood loss or irritation for a very close, comfortable shave. Admittedly, I went a little slower than my usual pace because I didn't want to shave on autopilot mode. I only took n extra few minutes to complete the passes. Oh in case you are wondering, I didn't need any pickups. Hey, that's what you expect with a fresh Feather blade! Lol! I did get some feedback by my non-protruding Adam's Apple, but that's it. Topped the shave off with Dickinson's Witch Hazel and Proraso Green aftershave. Have a great evening!
