I was just over at another shave forum, and was talkinabout Stoylin. Boy, did I get criticized for that!(or maybe "corrected"). Whatsamatter, they don't allow good-natured fun???

    good morning gents.
fabulous 2 pass shave this morning.these drugstore products never disappoint.
this rocket is the last brit all brass non adjustable ,replaced in 1966 with the black handled model.
the slim adjustable held out for 2 more years, then it to was replaced with aluminum components.
the weight of the brass and the slim design head make this one of their most efficient razors of the era.
    have a great day everyone.

Great shave Gary. Williams had a long run, but I am not sorry to see it go. @Fuzzy has to be a little sad.

    Rating: 4.5 / 5

Razor: Gipson 8/8 Half+ “Hanabira” Kamosori
    Brush: Semogue Torga C5
    Lather: Stirling Spice
    Aftershave: B & M Reserve Spice
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

Inaugural shave with the GipsonHandmade Kamosori. It has the distinction of being the largest blade in my den. According to Joe, @Trigger, I have now reached the big leagues. My initial impression is the quality craftsmanship of the razor that Andrey Shpakovskiy, the artisan behind the production of the razor, has put forth into the razor is phenomenal.

My impression of the first shave is that although I received a close shave, I felt it could have been closer. The resulting closeness was not on par, although slightly less, with those that I have received from my traditional straights. I will chalk this up to the learning curve that comes associated with shaving with a new blade.

In contemplating the difference between the traditional straight and the Kamosori, the significant difference is the lack of scales which creates a difference balancing issue in your hand. Much like the function of a tail on a monkey, which assists in the balancing of movement throughout their environment so does the scales on a razor. The lack of the scale had me trying to find the right position for my pinky as well as becoming comfortable using my non dominant hand in certain areas. I am sure as I progress the shaves will get more comfortable and the results better. If not, it may just need a refresh hone.

I shaved with my 1954 Gillette Super Speed Flaretip with an Astra blade. Lavender shave cream. Nice 2-pass shave

Congrats on that new kami and the wonderful first shave with it Joe. Though I have never shaved with a kami, I have suspected that it would be a different feel than shaving with a straight. I am sure you will dial it in to get the result you would expect. Enjoy your day!

Unfortunately, there are some forums that are quite touchy about content.
