Soap. That about sums it up. One might even say it's unscented. I have a few EOs that I will add to and mix in with lather. Three drops do it right.
I keep using the ARKO stick, because it is simple, inexpensive, easy to lather, and doesn't smell like mosquito repellent.
Williams - my pucks are vintage and, therefore, have no smell. It produces a nice stable slick lather... For many years it was the slickest soap I'd ever used. I'm curious what the modern pucks smell like, but heard it doesn't lather as well. Arko is a perfectly serviceable soap, too, but I don't love the smell or consistency.
I was gifted a vintage puck of Williams. Yup, great stuff. Curious what the modern smells like? Go to any garden center. No doubt they sell mosquito repellant candles. Shove your nose in amongst 'em and you'll know in an instant what it smells like.
Looks like there are more ARKO users . maybe if Williams went back to the old recipe, things would be different. It's kind of like Shulton Old Spice vs P&G Old Spice.
FYI, I will also grate my Arko, let it air out for a couple of weeks, to let the scent dissipate. I will then mix other scents in with it, and press it into a container. Arko and Sandalwood is a very good combo. Arko and Avon Spicy is good too. I haven't heard if Williams users do the same.
I thinik this poll has been ongoing for a long time, thus I won't comment. Having said that, let me make this comment: Arko appears to be walkin away with this one.
Being that I've never tried Vintage Williams shave soap, I can neither agree nor disagree with you. .
There are less Williams lovers than I thought. Just kidding. There are actually more Williams lovers than I though there would be.
Williams went downhill when I started to shave in the mid to late 70's. The Menthol green box version was my go to favorite. The vintage soap really worked well. Sent from my SM-A526U using Tapatalk
Once had a puck of vintage Williams. Boy, was that good! Modern Williams can't hold a candle to it. Arko is great as well (and dirt cheap over here), but the scent is not for everyone. I happen to like it.
