Awesome shaves and great blade comparison Eric. Your example of going to cold water is a testimonial to experiment with different aspects of wetshaving. In my case, I have changed the way I attack my beard with straight than when I first started to shave this way. Moreover, I have learned to use different brands of DE blades based on my beard growth. Personally, I like the different nuances of using my gear because it's about picking the right setup based on my beard growth, mood and time constraints. Before I got into wetshaving, it was just slap the goo on my face and just shave any old way. Today, shaving is so much more to me. Enjoy your day.

    Straight Shave #349
    W F Engels Special
    Omega Pro 49 Boar Brush
Fine Accoutrements Platinum SS and AS
    Maggard's Alum Block
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 27 hrs

I haven't use the Engels razor in awhile so I decided to use it today. For a similar reason, the Fine Accoutrements Platinum got the call as well.

Fine Accoutrements likes water and the Omega boar brush whipped up a nice lather. Did 2 passes and got a nice, close and comfortable shave. I did get a weep on my chin and that was due to the razor tugging a bit so I will have to hit it with my films.
Now, that's 2 razors that I need to hit on films. The other is my Herder Ace of Spades.

The alum gave me some feedback, but it wasn't crazy. After the witch hazel, I decided to shake the aftershave bottle to see if the scent becomes more noticeable. Lo and behold, it did, so that I could smell that it is a clean, masculine scent. However, I still don't care for it. C'est la vie! Take care.

    Pre:
Cold wet flannel to my face.
    Simple Pure Bar Soap.
    Brush: Frank Shaving 22mm Synthetic.
    Face Lather.
Lather: Fine Fresh Vetiver Shaving Soap.
Blade: Personna PTFE SS Injector. (D2)
    Razor: Schick Type G Injector.

    Post:
Cold water face wash with brush squeezing's, Cold Water Face Rinse./ Homemade (~Autumn/Winter mix~) peppermint lavender, eucalyptus, + Tea Tree essential Oils Mixed Together With 200ml of Care+Witch Hazel./L'OREAL Soothing Birch Sap PSB./Milton Lloyd Cobalt EdT.

    A relaxing Sunday morning shave.

It's been a while since i last added the fine fresh vetiver soap to my soap rotation and forgot how good of a lather this soap gives in a short space of time.

Another wonderful performance from the Schick Type G injector....Every shave that I've had with this vintage injector has been close and comfortable. Today was no exception.

A enjoyable 2 pass + pick ups comfortable shave with no errors to report... Finishing the shave off with a few small squirts of Milton Lloyd Cobalt EdT to the chest & pulse points.

My face is feeling smooth & smelling divine. ;)

Stay Safe, and enjoy your Sunday Ladies & Gentlemen.

Very nice shave Barry. I agree that Fine soaps make great lathers, but they are lightly scented.

    SRS # 653 - Sample Shave Sunday

    Rating: 5 / 5

Razor: Martens HDW Co. 11/16” Kingwood scales
Brush: Big Cyprass 24mm Silver Tip
    Lather: WSP Blackbeard (Rustic)
    Aftershave: Libertalia
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original

Excellent Sunday morning shave before heading into Queens to do some errands with the missus this morning. We will have to hurry back for Anthony’s basketball game by mid afternoon.

I did the usual three passes with stellar results. As Jeff, @jgreenepa, would express, “Smooth and velveteen.”

I hope you all have a wonderful and relaxing Sunday.

For me, next week is Barbershop Shave Week- at least one product will remind you(course ME too) of those old days at the barbershop(course it's the same NOW, but we're a lot older and, I presume, have less hair.).

This morning, I closed out the back-to-back Edge Gel and Yardley A.S. I was quite pleased, given that my face and neck were a SWAMP before the shave-not just astrotrurf. I got a good chunk of it off, with just the one pass I do for magnificent goo shaves. A little too much Yardley A.S., so I did what I could to spread it all around. No cuts, no Knicks, and no polkadots. I usually get high marks for the cream/foam/gel shaves, as I don't get a cut unless I drive over a speed bump to CAUSE it. None of that this morning. Super Duper Excellent.

    Good morning, gents

    IMG_20220306_162607_126.jpg

Shave 2/30. Very pleasant shave without any nicks or irritation. I really enjoy using this razor. The cream seems to perform very well too.

    Have a great day!

Paul, imbedded in your wonderful post is the absolute best advice I have seen or heard for new safety razor beginners. It ought to be quoted thousands of times on every shave-related site.

Makes me deeply grateful to be a Noob here!
