I’m fond of rattlers Tom, so that Robert Williams is giving me razor envy ! Testing out the first edge from the Griffith/1Stone Black Shadow slate. Excellent edge! The razor was a Le Grelot 6/8 Campiono prepped to 8k with a Shapton Glass HC then finished with a pretty normal routine since the first time on a new stone you have no idea what you’re doing. I posted a review of it in a separate thread. Soap was Pre de Provence lathered with a Zenith Pro boar, and a splash of the ubiquitous Myrsol Agua Balsamica finished up a great shave.
I like that he did a grind like this… very different for a modern blade. Shaves like a dream. Nice report out in that separate thread for the slate… a very cool option.
Wednesday morning shave, my newly acquired CVH MK No.30 with Ivory scales. Slightly adjusted spine and really nice to shave with. Soap Edwin Jagger Sandalwood Brush Gents Badger Silver Tip Splash Floris No 127 Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
JR Torrey Extra Hollow Brand new to me and just finished putting on edge on it. 1k Diamond followed by the Welsh Slate system. I will say this took a pretty darn good edge! Trouble areas tend to be my chin and neck. (I wear a friendly mutton chop type beard.) not a kick of an issue when using the alum block. Darn good razor! Soap: Cella Brush: Synthetic Full Moon A/S: Alum followed by Witch Hazel
Le Grelot Perle des Orients, cream was SMN lathered with a Zenith boar, and a splash of Speick finished up a perfect shave.
Thursday morning shave, Kamisori. Do not know if I like it or not. Quite nice shave. Soap Razor Emporium Old School Brush Gents Badger Silver Tip Splash Floris No 127 Skickat från min iPhone med Tapatalk
Shave #70 on the Rifuto, pre-shave ABC almond oil and aloe, cream was SMN lathered with a SOC, and a splash of Speick finished up since I had the Speick out. Is the edge as good as fresh off the rocks? It doesn’t shave quite as closely as freshly honed edge, but it ‘ain’t misbehavin’’ either, it’s still smooth, not tugging or pulling, at least with a slick, high quality soap and software.
Le Grelot Coupe Celeste, soap was SMN lathered with a lime green Paladin Chief and a splash of Myrsol K (peppermint) topped off a spring shave. But it is still winter and is supposed to snow tonight with temperatures in the teens F (about -10 C) tomorrow
The week had two wonderful shaves with these Herders… a 76 and a 14. Brush: Thater Suds: AoS Unscented Enjoy your shave. Tom
