It's not how much you spend on shaving items, but how much time you spend on your technique that provides great shaves. You spent a lot of time and it shows. Have a super day Gary!

Explains why Bill Neumann soaps are expected to be hard to lather.. As for Razorock, their Lime has been tough to lather-last spring/summer I finally made a couple dents in it. Looking forward to using it this spring/summer.

    Straight Razor Shave #353
    6/8 Ralf Aust
    JR #290 Cashmere Brush
    Stirling Barbership SS

    Maggard's Alum Block
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 27.5 hrs

Yesterday's shave was real close so I could have waited this morning, but I didn't want to take a chance to rush a straight shave in case I get called to sub tomorrow.
I went with an old-fashioned barbershop shave with this setup. The Stirling Barbership SS has that powdery scent that is reminiscent of the 1960's barbershop. I made a nice, thick, slick lather that really was fun, but not necessary for me to have a nice shave. Sometimes, I just want to enjoy a real, voluminous lather.
The Ralf Aust is still sharp because Maggard's did a nice job honing it when I bought this razor 3 yrs ago. I just needed two passes without a touchup to get a nice, close and comfortable shave without red liquid or irritation present. The alum gave very slight feedback which told me that I did get a close, comfortable shave. Did my normal postshave ritual that ended with the mighty Veg. Take care.

thank you Joe.i like the drug store stuff for the work shaves as it gets used up quickly.and mostly scentless.i save my nice stuff for days off when i can thoroughly enjoy it..i will have to keep a supply of unscented product around for future but it will always be readily available local cheapo stuff.once the masks disappear i will stop using balm..;) most of the tube creams won't get repurchased..

Parker 87R with a Feather blade. Proraso pre-shave. I tried a new soap this morning. Sir Hare. A bit harder to lather but we got there with my Simpson brush. Finished off with Proraso after-shave balm. It looks like Mickey flustered the Joker! My cat decided to help this morning too!

Mayo, eh? That's gonna make ny next shave with RMBC kinda weird-I'll just have to forget the Mayo persuasion. Try to, anyway. I use it like you do-in a pinch.
