Thank you Gary. I do use the blue tape which helps. It is just a tedious process.

i have one of those aluminum brit techs, nice shavers, will have to bring it out for a run.:).while Truefitt isn''t an artisan per se, it isn't really drug store either.my first couple of years into this fine hobby a purchased mostly higher end soaps/creams but soon got bored with them..as my technique improved i realized one could use most anything slippery.:D.now the nice stuff gets used as it should-on occasion. Now i buy little to none of anything as the stash should last years.:):eatdrink047:

I use mostly the cheaper soaps and creams, most of them work very well. I've been thinking about buying more of the Palmolive creams, they are very inexpensive if order them from Italy. Soaps would probably end up being a bit cheaper but I have a few pucks of Mühle soaps. Maybe for special occasions, or sunday shaves, I could look into something a bit more special.

very cool.my high end stuff is mostly mid grade price wise.-i did splurge on an MDC jar when it was on sale, though rarely use it.no expec or aqua di parma, floris type stuff.i was on a matching brand/scent/soap/splash binge for a while, not now.most of my others are $25-40 range including artisan-did the "latest soap base" trend for a bit as well.i didn't do the "got to have every scent" fad of my favorite brand either.so i have a nice stash of well performing/my scent range of items to enjoy for the foreseeable future.anything i didn't like has long been passed along or round filed.when/if things go back to normal i may try to send you some gillette pure cream in future.we'll see .:):eatdrink047:

    Good afternoon!

    Shavette Shave #353
    Parker SRB
    Rockwell 1/2 DE Blade (3)
    Hembree Timberwolf Synthetic Brush
Fine Accoutrements Platinum SS and AS
    Maggard's Alum Block
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 30 hrs

Since I got a nice shave using a Fine Accoutrements soap yesterday, I decided to use my other Fine Accoutrements Soap in my den. Danny's brush did a great job creating a nice, slick, creamy and well-hydrated lather. Like I stated the last time, FA is a great performer, but my nose doesn't pick up any scent. However, I do pick up the scent on the aftershave from my hands, but it is light. I will say that I will not buy another Fine Accoutrements Soap, especially with the new formula being 25 dollars per puck. Did my usual 2 passes for a BBS shave without any major drama. Ended this shave with my normal postshave routine. Have a nice day!

fine shave and pic Joe.;).my 3 near scentless old formula pucks still sit happily away in the back of the drawer.like stirling and a couple of others,i got bored with them quickly.now to present day,i will use them more on days off as they will be a nice change from creams etc.funny how stuff works out..:):eatdrink047:

Thanks Gary. These "scentless" soaps do have a role. They prevent me from buying more soap; I can wear them without offending anyone and they won't interfere with any aftershave. However, I can always go to TJ Maxx or Wal-Mart to purchase scenting oils to liven up the soaps.

Sounds good! I haven't really gone down that rabbit hole.
I've been looking at the Italian website (rasoigoodfellas.eu), and I'll probably buy a few 400ml aftershaves I know I'd like, some of the Palmolive creams and possibly a decent amount of blades to get free shipping. Then I would be set for years. :D
Maybe one or two finnish artisan soaps for the more special shaves.
Thanks, it would be nice to try the cream, as the stuff isn't available here. :eatdrink047:

mine have been stored in sealed containers.i have italian citrus, platinum and l'orange noir.scents may come back more if i use them? possibly.but to be honest ,they will fit in with my newly acquired "less scent" preference for work shaves.in reality,i don't have any shave soap /croap/cream that it's scent lingers after the cold rinse.i tend to shave before shower at present so it isn't rushed and i can still enjoy a touch of regular a/s for it's benefits.i use the unscented balms and such before i leave for work.this may change when the masks are dropped.most of my shave splashes dissipate quickly enough so i could wear them, but no colognes/edt's at the worksite.;)
