thank you Joe.i would call this a no frills shave set, does the job well..this rocket is very efficient, more so than the earlier ones in my opinion.,just not the prettiest.it has the slim profile black handled flare tip head and thin plating, not the thick shiny plating brit gillettes are famous for.:):eatdrink047:sign of the times..the black handled aluminum one came out the following year.

I'll order the brush and a razor tomorrow. The Fatip slant looks better in gold in my opinion, which happens to be out of stock, so I guess I'll go with the chrome instead. I'll order a tub of TOBS as well, maybe grapefruit or tobacco leaf.

IMG_20220406_195621_380.jpg Shave 21/30. So, the good news is that the shave went well, just a touch of irritation on a problem area, no big deal. The bad news is that the brush shed a bunch of hair, so much that I'm retiring it. Might as well use something that doesn't make shaving (well, lathering) feel annoying. I'll probably use my DSCosmetic synthetic for the rest of this focus.

    Have a great day, gentlemen!

Very nice shave Daniel. Boar brushes shed when they are new and they continually shed it ages. My Omega Pro 49 sheds. It is 3 yrs old. If I get another 7 yrs of service, then I am ok with it, especially since I paid just under 10 dollars. Your Semogue boar is more expensive and shouldn't shed too much. Sometimes, if you swirl very hard to load the brush or facelather, then the integrity of the bristles is compromised. Also, you don't want to soak a brush at its rim because the water will trickle down into the adhesive and also cause shedding.

Thanks, Joe. This brush has shed a few bristles every now and then, which I consider to be normal. Now I counted closer to 20 bristles. I admit, I do not soak the brush for very long, a minute or less, because it gets too floppy if I soak it for longer. That might be hard on the bristles. I don't mash the brush to my face when I lather. It doesn't have a lot of backbone, so no need for much pressure to make it splay. Sometimes I've probably soaked it to the rim, usually I aim for slightly under it.

I paid roughly 10€ for the brush, just a touch more expensive than Omega 49.

    Rating: 5 / 5 - RAZOR RESTORATION TEST SHAVE

    Razor: A. Witte Solace
Brush: Leo Frilot ECWS 2018 Ghost Trails
Lather: Declaration Grooming/Chatillon Lux Bon Vivant
Aftershave: Chatillon Lux Bon Vivant Toner
    Additional Care:
    Stirling Alum Block
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original

I have to say that I am pleasantly impressed with my first attempt at a complete restoration and hone. :bounce017:
The blade was put through a progression of wet/dry paper (Emory cloth) from 320, 600, 800, 1000, 1200, 1500, 2000, 2500 grit and a 3000 polishing pad. Followed by an application of MAAS Polishing compound.
The hone progression consisted of 1000K, 6000K and the 12000K Naniwa finishing stone.

I decided to give it a shave prior to attaching the scales. (Aka: Kamosori like). I did the usual three passes that is my norm. The end result was an extremely close BBS. Considering the shave sans scales, this was just a phenomenal result.

This afternoon I finished the restoration progression and polishing of an H. Boker Co. razor. If I have time tomorrow, it will be honed and a test shave for this Friday.

I hope you have a great day gentlemen.
