It is a fun part of the hobby. There was a beautiful razor with what looked like a picture of him on the blade face.
I just won this one from Japan, a TI 14 Best Silver Steel, an honest 7/8. Looks new. They don’t make ‘em like this anymore and the price was right.
Nice condition. You know what this means? Now you are going to be looking, night and day, for its twin. .
Yes sir, you know me well! Already thinking about that, and the TI 7/8 Bijou de France that’s probably the same blank and easier to find.
Just foolin’ around on eBay and won these for a nice price. Jonathan Cookes Fine India Steel and a Marshes and Shepherd ‘VR’ that’s likely a regrind from the looks of it. Both should clean up nicely.
Thank you Scott, Do you mean 12 steps forward or 12 steps back? I actually haven’t bought a JNat in about 6 months or so except for a couple of very economical ones from CKTG for nagura. I need to start again lol. There’s a back story to that Especial. I spotted it on eBay a year or more ago, one of Marcella’s offerings, and would have bought it immediately but I knew my friend the other Scott was really wanting one so I gave the opportunity to him if he would give me first dibs if he ever wanted to sell it. I traded 3 razors for it, a really nice pair of Manaslu M-55s and a full width user (no gold wash) King Pelican 14.
Erik Anton Berg Eskilstuna, Sweden 5/8th inch Half Hollow Ground. Well, it looks to be sound, and only needs a little work, for some corrosion. A nice thin grind. I guess I need to put the stones to work again.
Another pair of Touron -Parisot, this time in ivory, for $75 - Score! I love the photo of the razors on the photo of a WWII airplane, the razors are almost a century older.
I have trouble passing up a J. Weiss… or two. I have some unmarked and some from his Strand St. address, but I think this is my first from his Oxford St. address. They will require some work, but the scales are in beautiful condition, and the box was part of the deal. I have quite a few razors with the Queen Victoria Royal cypher, and a few with King William, but this may be my first with King George. Going to have to check. Happy hunting. Tom
